Funtico 2025 Launch Party: Summary and Recap

Another week, another exciting event in the great city of Dubai. This time, we're taking a look at a party organized by the Funtico team to celebrate the release of their token, $TICO. The token is set to go live on Monday, January 27, at 12:00 PM UTC. Now, on to the recap.

The event was hosted at a well-known conference venue, The Agenda, but the organizers transformed the space so dramatically that it almost felt like an entirely different location. This was evident from the moment guests arrived, as the entrance hall had been reimagined in a vivid retro-futuristic style. Staff members, dressed in silvery, sci-fi-inspired outfits, greeted attendees and handed out suspicious-looking vials filled with blue liquid (but don’t worry—it was just flavored water).

All this created a visually strong first impression. It appeared as if the guests were boarding a massive spaceship straight out of a 1960s sci-fi movie.

Inside the venue, the snacks, decorations, and displays continued the theme of being aboard a spaceship. Overall, I have to give the organizers credit for how they transformed the space—it's clear that they took the phrase "going the extra mile" to heart.

Every detail, from costumes and props to holographic displays, felt coherent and part of a larger narrative. In fact, as I mentioned earlier, there was an element of storytelling clearly woven into the entire experience, which I found quite satisfying. For example, halfway through the party, we were treated to a holographic performance. It depicted a performer dressed as a robot (or perhaps an AI?) working on what seemed to be the starship’s interface. After being calibrated and activated, the systemcame to life with $TICO tokens appearing on the hologram.

The meaning of the performance seemed clear: we were on a Funtico starship that had just, with the help of an AI robot, booted its TGE (Token Generation Event)! While this wasn’t some kind of super-profound art, I did find my mind stimulated.

When it came to the program, the event consisted mostly of performances, with one relatively short token presentation in between. The lineup was high-quality, featuring Arash and Afrojack as the main headliners.

The token talk was primarily aimed at hyping $TICO but also served to provide a quick rundown for those uninitiated. In short, $TICO is a Web3 gaming token, similar to what Mobox and Gala are doing. It positions itself as a platform without being tied to any particular game.

The presentation included a showcase of several games, which were displayed on holograms and a screen above.

Overall, I found the games somewhat underwhelming. While casual titles like Solitaire Slam seemed interesting, the more “serious” 3D games didn’t seem appealing at all. The play-to-earn concept might entice players to keep coming back regardless of quality, but it would be nice to see a more polished portfolio of games.

Once the presentation was over, it was back to music, dancing, and socializing. Overall, the party was not only fun but also showcased the core team's dedication and confidence in their product. It boosted Funtico’s brand recognition, helped familiarize new users with the platform, and (perhaps) wowed the whales. The team is clearly focused on making their project sustainable, and the launch event was designed to reflect this.

Have a great day, and keep rocking in the metaverse!
