Arcade Colony has just announced another upcoming game called Hyper Rail Blaster. And what's cool is that they alreaady have a minimum viable product ready for testing. It's made with the Unity engine like Moonkarts, but this time, I think they're aiming for a simple, hypercasual, arcade-style type of game.
The game looks cool and vibrant with a color scheme a bit similar to Moonkarts and the Arcade Colony logo. It's also very easy to load unlike Moonkarts where I had to wait for a few minutes.
Now for the actual gameplay, the mechanics are straightforward and very easy to learn. You have the spacebar to shoot and the directional keys to slide your 'rail blaster' left and right. The game looks simple enough at first glance. But upon playing it, I found it a bit more challenging than expected.
You can only hit the spiky enemies if they're directly in your line of sight meaning you have to position directly under them. But once you do this, you are exposed to enemy attacks as you are in their trajectory. Basically, by attacking enemies, you risk getting hit. This creates an uneasy feeling of needing to attack while also dodging at the same time. It took me longer than expected to get a hang of the gameplay.
Now for the rewards, reading from the whitepaper, I think the first three games will be free while succeeding tries would cost an increasing number of tokens. That would be cool and I can see myself adding Hyper Rail Blaster into my daily to-do tasks in Hive. As a suggestion, I think it would be nice if NFT assets from Moonkarts, Stakehouse Den, and other AC games are somehow given utility as well, like unique enemies or rail blaster skins.
Overall, I'm excited to see what the full version of Hyper Rail Blaster would look like. If you guys would want to try it out as well, you can do so here. Also visit the official whitepaper for the complete information.
