Círculos de hombres, palabra y tabaco. 🇺🇲🇪🇦

Los círculos de hombres, una actividad que sin duda alguna fue algo que llegó a mi vida para quedarse. En el año 2017 en Caracas, Venezuela fuí invitado a un círculo de hombres, un espacio donde podían estar hombres de todas las edades, culturas y religiones. Recuerdo que fue llevado a cabo en una montaña muy especial para los habitantes de la ciudad de Caracas, el Waraira Repano.

Men's circles, an activity that undoubtedly was something that came into my life to stay. In 2017 in Caracas, Venezuela I was invited to a men's circle, a space where men of all ages, cultures and religions could be. I remember that it was held in a very special mountain for the inhabitants of the city of Caracas, the Waraira Repano.

Fué dirijido por dos compañeros que hoy en día son mis hermanos, al igual que todos los que allí se encontraron. Estos círculos de palabra van acompañados o, mejor dicho, guiados por la presencia de la planta del Tabaco, que de manera tradicional llamamos "Abuelo Tabaco".

It was led by two companions who today are my brothers, as well as all those who met there. These word circles are accompanied or, better said, guided by the presence of the Tobacco plant, which we traditionally call "Grandfather Tobacco".

Él se presenta en un altar donde se encuentran varias presentaciones del abuelo tabaco: en forma de puro, en forma de polvo (conocido mundialmente como rapé), en forma de té y en forma de pasta (conocido en Venezuela como chimó), algunas veces contamos con la presencia del ambil (otra versión de la presentación en pasta) que proviene del territorio Colombiano y su amazonía, en otro post podría profundizar y compartirles más sobre esta sagrada medicina.

He is presented in an altar where there are several presentations of Grandfather Tobacco: in cigar form, in powder form (known worldwide as snuff), in the form of tea and in paste form (known in Venezuela as chimó), sometimes we have the presence of ambil (another version of the presentation in paste) that comes from the Colombian territory and its Amazon, in another post I could deepen and share more about this sacred medicine.

Los participantes nos sentamos en círculo de manera tal que todos nos podamos ver fácilmente. Hay siempre un moderador que guía la palabra, la presentación de lo que vamos a llevar a cabo, para las personas que están por primera vez en un espacio como este. También presenta ante todos al abuelo tabaco y sus distintas presentaciones que nos acompañan, como su origen y tradición, qué medicina nos trae, cómo lo usan las diferentes naciones originarias en sus territorios, efectos que puede producir en nosotros y con que intención lo consagramos durante el círculo.

The participants sit in a circle so that we can all see each other easily. There is always a moderator who guides the word, the presentation of what we are going to carry out, for people who are for the first time in a space like this. He also presents to everyone the grandfather tobacco and its different presentations that accompany us, such as its origin and tradition, what medicine it brings us, how the different native nations use it in their territories, the effects that it can produce in us and with what intention we consecrate it during the circle.

Cuando ha sido presentado y consagrado el Abuelo tabaco se comienza a compartir una palabra personal. El guía es quien abre la palabra, como ejemplo para los demás participantes acerca de la dinámica del círculo, después se pasa la palabra junto con el tabaco a cada uno de los integrantes que tienen ahora la oportunidad de hablar, profundizar en sus memorias y expresar lo que sienten, lo que piensa, las situaciones que están atravesando en cualquier ámbito de su vida, pues es siempre el círculo un sitio seguro que inspira respeto y confianza para abrirnos ante otros hermanos, otros seres que atraviesan en presente o atravesaron en un pasado situaciones similares ya sea alegrías, penas, etc... No hay límites! Es nuestro momento de expresarnos ahí en el círculo.

When the Grandfather tobacco has been introduced and consecrated, we begin to share a personal word. The guide is the one who opens the word, as an example for the other participants about the dynamics of the circle, then the word is passed along with the tobacco to each of the members who now have the opportunity to speak, deepen their memories and express what they feel, what they think, the situations they are going through in any area of their lives, because the circle is always a safe place that inspires respect and confidence to open ourselves to other brothers, other beings who are going through in the present or went through similar situations in the past, whether joys, sorrows, etc .... There are no limits! It is our moment to express ourselves there in the circle.

Muchas veces contamos con la presencia de otro abuelo, el abuelo Fuego 🔥. Pero todo depende de las condiciones del espacio que logremos concretar y coordinar. Son círculos mágicos dónde se manifiesta la medicina de la palabra y la hermandad en relación con la naturaleza.

Many times we count on the presence of another grandfather, Grandfather Fire 🔥. But everything depends on the conditions of the space that we manage to concretize and coordinate. They are magical circles where the medicine of the word and the brotherhood in relation to nature is manifested.

Hay un espacio para el rapé, (tabaco en polvo) poderosa medicina que adquirimos de Brasil, también tendría que dedicar un post sólo para hablarles de mi experiencia y relación con ella 😁. En este espacio todos nos aplicamos rapé, aunque si hay alguien presente que no pueda o quiera por alguna razón, también es respetada su decisión.

There is a space for snuff, (snuff powder) powerful medicine that we acquired from Brazil, I would also have to dedicate a post just to tell you about my experience and relationship with it 😁. In this space we all apply snuff, although if there is someone present who can't or doesn't want to for some reason, their decision is also respected.

Hay un espacio para el té de Tabaco, hecho con hojas de cultivos orgánicos de ésta planta del cual nos aseguramos saber su procedencia y estar en contacto con las personas que lo cultivan. Estamos constantemente tomando pequeños sorbos del té a lo largo de todo círculo.

There is a space for Tobacco tea, made with leaves from organic crops of this plant of which we make sure we know its origin and be in contact with the people who grow it. We are constantly taking small sips of the tea throughout the circle.

De igual manera el chimó ó ambil, antes mencionados, también son consumidos por todos lo que quieran, la invitación siempre es a probarlo y estudiar junto a todos está sagrada planta del Tabaco en las distintas presentaciones.

In the same way the chimó or ambil, mentioned above, are also consumed by all who want, the invitation is always to try it and study together with everyone this sacred plant of Tobacco in the different presentations.

Si no se habían dado cuenta hasta ahora, éstas cuatro presentaciones de la planta de tabaco están cada una a su vez representando a los 4 elementos: el puro - fuego 🔥, el rape - aire 💨, el té - agua 💦, chimó o ambil - tierra ⛰️.

If you had not noticed until now, these four presentations of the tobacco plant are each in turn representing the 4 elements: the cigar - fire 🔥, the anglerfish - air 💨, the tea - water 💦, chimó or ambil - earth ⛰️.

Consagramos ésta planta milenaria, sagrada para todos los pueblos y naciones originarias, con el máximo respeto y teniendo en cuenta que más allá de ser una planta es también energía y espíritu, posee vida y sabiduría ancestral, guiandonos en la palabra, en los pensamientos siendo puente entre nosotros y las profundidades de nuestro ser, para reconocernos, tener una apertura entre hermanos y ver o reflejar lo que quizá no hemos querido o no hemos podido ver también.

We consecrate this ancient plant, sacred to all peoples and native nations, with the utmost respect and taking into account that beyond being a plant is also energy and spirit, has life and ancient wisdom, guiding us in the word, in the thoughts being a bridge between us and the depths of our being, to recognize ourselves, to have an opening between brothers and see or reflect what perhaps we have not wanted or have not been able to see too.

Una vez ya han tenido la palabra todos los participantes hay espacio para reflexiones, para el consejo, para el diálogo entre todos, intercambio de perspectivas. Incluso en la rueda de la palabra, una vez terminado cada uno su turno, puede haber intervenciones breves del moderador o alguna persona que tenga un aporte y sienta que sea importante compartirlo.

Once all the participants have had the floor, there is space for reflections, for advice, for dialogue among all, exchange of perspectives. Even in the round table, once everyone has finished their turn, there may be brief interventions by the moderator or by someone who has a contribution and feels it is important to share it.

Ésto y mucho más son las ceremonias de círculo de palabra y tabaco de hombres. También existen los círculos de palabra y tabaco de mujeres y mixtos ó de familia, con algunos ligeros cambios.

This and much more are the speaking circle and men's tobacco ceremonies. There are also women's and mixed or family speech and tobacco circles, with some slight changes.

Éstos círculos los llevamos a cabo una vez al mes, año a año, integrando a los participantes, construyendo familia y hermandades entendiendonos, reconociendonos como humanidad y recordando nuestra divinidad. Están todos invitados.

We hold these circles once a month, year after year, integrating the participants, building family and brotherhoods, understanding each other, recognizing each other as humanity and remembering our divinity. You are all invited.
