We live in a patriarchal society, where women like Maria were seen from a very young age as people who had to dedicate themselves exclusively to housework, raising children and faithfully serving their husbands. It is a culture that from generation to generation excluded women to the background, where studies for the acquisition of knowledge, labor equality and social empowerment were unthinkable. But the 21st century arrived and with it a technological, social and cultural tsunami, a true revolution that opened the doors to a new world, an era where things began to evolve at an abysmal speed, a revolution where women can be heard and at the same time are masters of their future.

Maria is already 75 years old, at the beginning of this millennium she had spent a little more than 50 years performing her work imposed by society, but always inside her she had a fighting spirit, a desire to overcome and with an eye on the future, that is how thanks to an opportunity provided by the government of the time she enrolled in college, Without fear of anything, without shame for her age and with a lot of enthusiasm she began to study in two careers, around the same time she returned to the labor field and thanks to these activities Maria had a second start, going out every day to the street, keeping active and in contact with many people was something that was wonderfully good for her.

Little by little technology was advancing and thanks to a good salary at home she was able to acquire equipment and instruments that brought her closer to modernity and allowed her to make her life less complicated, Once she finished her studies she would graduate in Law and Education, which would empower her life to the maximum and would get her job promotions, which would mean that she would begin to be in charge of her family, making decisions and solving situations that were previously impossible for her to solve.

By the second decade of 2000, Maria's work consisted of going out to the streets of Caracas and meeting with hundreds of communities, with the purpose of instructing them in political and social formation, with a view to forming different types of community organizations, these new forms of grouping would allow the people and specifically women to empower themselves and take real control of their environment, This action sought to respond to the needs of a sector of the population that for years had been excluded and abandoned. Incredibly, most of the people who attended these meetings were women, who with their ideas, energy and joy were able to lay the foundations of a new society.

The years passed and the age was increasing, unquestionably the skills and energies are not the same, but technology came to make up for many of those shortcomings, smartphones, internet and social networks became her current battle trench, remote and online work is her new reality, it was a quick, sudden and total change, It was a fast, sudden and total change, since they are devices to which she was not used to, but nevertheless her determination, her aptitude and desire to continue being at the forefront of life made her open her mind and learn to use applications, pages and different tools that today put her in front of many other people her age, even to the point of being compared with any young person of the millennial or centennial generations.

Maria is synonymous with overcoming, she managed to change her stars, to be an example for many and today remains at the head of her family, her community and her life, she is my aunt and every time I have the opportunity to share with her I do it and I enjoy it to the fullest, it's great to see how women today in my country have the opportunity to fulfill their dreams, to get ahead and get the big and bright future they deserve.

Vivimos en una sociedad patriarcal, en donde las mujeres como María fueron vistas desde muy niñas como personas que debían dedicarse exclusivamente a las labores del hogar, criar niños y servir fielmente a sus maridos, es una cultura que de generación en generación fue excluyendo a las mujeres a un segundo plano, en donde los estudios para la adquisición de conocimientos, la igualdad laboral y el empoderamiento social eran impensables. Pero llegó el siglo XXI y con el un tsunami tecnológico, social y cultural, se trata de una verdadera revolución que le abrió las puertas a un nuevo mundo, una época en donde las cosas comenzaron a evolucionar a una velocidad abismal, se trata de una revolución en donde las mujeres pueden ser escuchadas y al mismo tiempo son dueñas de su futuro.

María ya cuenta con 75 años, al iniciar este milenio ella había pasado un poco más de 50 años desempeñando su labor impuesta por la sociedad, pero siempre en su interior contaba con un espíritu luchador, ganas de superación y con una mirada puesta en el futuro, es así como gracias a una oportunidad brindada por el gobierno de turno ella se inscribió en la universidad, sin miedo a nada, sin pena por la edad y con mucho entusiasmo comenzó a estudiar en dos carreras, por esa misma fecha regreso al campo laboral y gracias a esas actividades María tuvo un segundo comienzo, salir todos los días a la calle, mantenerse activa y en contacto con muchas personas fue algo que le vino maravillosamente bien.

Así transcurrieron cinco años que fueron fuertes, agotadores pero satisfactorios, poco a poco la tecnología fue avanzando y gracias a un buen sueldo en su casa ella pudo ir adquiriendo equipos he instrumentos que le fueron acercando a la modernidad y que le permitían hacer de su vida algo menos complicado, una vez terminados sus estudios se titularía en Derecho y Educación, lo cual potenciaría su vida al máximo y le conseguiría ascensos laborales, cosa que se traduciría en que ella comenzaría a estar al frente de su familia, tomando decisiones y solventando situaciones que antes eran imposibles de resolver por ella.

Para la segunda década del 2000 el trabajo de María consistía en salir a las calles de Caracas y reunirse con cientos de comunidades, esto con la finalidad de instruirlos en la formación política y social, con miras a conformar organizaciones comunales de distinto tipo, estas nuevas formas de agruparse iban a permitir que el pueblo y específicamente las mujeres se empoderaran y lograran tomar el control real de su entorno, acción que buscaba dar respuesta a las necesidades de un sector de la población que durante años estuvo excluido y abandonado, increíblemente la mayoría de las personas que asistían a estas reuniones eran mujeres, quienes con sus ideas, su energía y alegría supieron cimentar las bases de una nueva sociedad.

Pasaron los años y la edad fue aumentando, indiscutiblemente las habilidades y energías no son las mismas, pero la tecnología vino a suplir muchas de esas carencias, los teléfonos inteligentes, el internet y las redes sociales se convirtieron en su actual trinchera de batalla, el trabajo a distancia y online es su nueva realidad, fue un cambio rápido, repentino y total, ya que son dispositivos a los cuales ella no estaba acostumbrada, pero sin embargo su empeño, su aptitud y ganas de seguir estando al frente de la vida la hicieron abrir su mente y aprender a usar aplicaciones, paginas y diferentes herramientas que hoy la colocan al frente de muchas otras personas de su edad, incluso al punto de compararse con cualquier joven de las generaciones millennial o centennials.

María es sinónimo de superación, ella logró cambiar sus estrellas, ser ejemplo para muchos y hoy en día se mantiene a la cabeza de su familia, su comunidad y su vida, ella es mi tía y cada vez que tengo la oportunidad de compartir con ella lo hago y lo disfruto al máximo, es genial ver como las mujeres hoy en día en mi país tienen la oportunidad de cumplir sus sueños, de salir adelante y conseguir el futuro grande y brillante que se merecen.
