A TALE OF STRATEGY, LUCK AND FORCEFIELD!

Ability Focus

This week on Social Media Challenge, I will dive into sharing the FORCEFIELD ability. Monsters equipped with this skill would only sustain 1 damage from attacks with a power of 5 or higher. It's a valuable defense mechanism, particularly in high mana battles where players rely on high mana's Monsters in order to unleash powerful attacks. In the following sections, I will share a battle that vividly demonstrates the effectiveness of this ability! 😁

Monsters Focus

If I am not mistaken, there are only 8 Monsters that possess the FORCEFIELD ability!

The Battle

While fulfilling my responsibilities in the Splinterlands scholarship account I have with Balthazar, bltzr-wizard-729, I was able to engage in a battle that showcased the FORCEFIELD ability to great effect. To get right into the action, the battle link can be found here. Otherwise, do read on as I go into more detail regarding the lineup and fight.

Let's begin by analyzing the ruleset applied in this encounter. It's a simple battle scenario with just one set of rules and one Splinter option to choose from. The ruleset governing this battle is the Wands Out ruleset, permitting only Monsters with Magic attacks to participate. Additionally, the mana capacity of 44 is in place, and players are restricted to utilizing the Fire Splinter exclusively.

Summoner, Conqueror Jacek

Since the ruleset confines the Summoner choice to the Fire Splinter, my selection from the arsenal boiled down to either Tarsha or Conqueror Jacek. I leaned towards the latter because of the significant buffs it brings to the lineup, which I believed would surpass the +1 Melee attack buff provided by Tarsha. Utilizing Conqueror Jacek's +2 Speed boost, Scattershot, and Piercing abilities, my strategy aimed to swiftly overwhelm the opponent! ✌️

First Position, Ifrit Rising

Honestly, Ifrit Rising isn't typically a Monster I rely on in battle, primarily because I'm not fond of its Recharge ability. Missing a turn to deal triple damage in the following turn doesn't usually fit my strategy. However, in battles where I'm limited to Magic units in the Fire Splinter, Ifrit Rising unexpectedly emerges as the ultimate tank in my arsenal. Its FORCEFIELD ability proves to be the real MVP, providing invaluable defense throughout the battle! 😅

Second Position, Magi of Chaos

I've chosen to position the Magi Of Chaos second in my lineup because of its superior Health stats compared to other Magic Units at my disposal for this battle. This would allow the Monster to move up as a secondary tanker when the Ifrit Rising fall. With a mana cost of 6, the Magi Of Chaos flaunts 4 Magic attack, 2 Speed, and a commendable Health stat of 7. Despite its Oppress ability, which proves useless in this battle due to the Wands Out ruleset! 🙃

Third Position, Spirit Hoarder

The Spirit Hoarder from the Neutral Splinter proves to be an invaluable utility Monster to include in your lineup. While it may not boast the highest power or durability at a mere 3 mana cost, its diverse range of abilities adds significant value to various battles. In this specific encounter, where I anticipate my opponent deploying the Conqueror Jacek Summoner, the Spirit Hoarder's Triage ability could prove crucial in Healing the damaged backline — assuming it doesn't get hit by the randomized Scattershot first! 😂

Fourth Position, Sorriel The Bale

Sorriel The Bale is a Legendary Soulbound Reward Monster that I was fortunate enough to acquire from one of the End Of Season Reward Chests! Though I haven't been able to fully max level this Legendary Monster yet, even at level 3, it already possesses impressive stats, with 2 Magic attack, 2 Speed, and 5 Health. While these stats may not seem exceptional on their own, when combined with its array of abilities, especially the Double Strike, Sorriel The Bale becomes a formidable opponent to contend with! 😤

Fifth Position, Djinn Inferni

Djinn Inferni's distinguishes itself as an incredibly formidable Monster renowned for its exceptional Magic damage and impressive Speed, enabling it to unleash swift assaults and potentially incapacitate opponents before they can retaliate. Moreover, Djinn Inferni possesses the frequently underestimated Giant Killer ability, granting it the capability to deal double damage when facing a target (such as Grum Flameblade or Coeurl Lurker) with a mana cost of 10 or higher! 😁

Last Position, Djinn Apprentice

Finally, we introduce the Djinn Apprentice to our lineup. Among the Fire Splinter Monsters, it stands out as one of the most potent and cost-effective choices. Despite its modest 5 mana cost, it boasts impressive stats with 4 Magic attack, 4 Speed, and 5 Health. Additionally, the Djinn Apprentice possesses a unique ability: Deathblow, which allows it to deal double damage if the target is the last monster standing on the enemy team. This combination of strength and strategic advantage makes the Djinn Apprentice a formidable force to reckon with in battle! 💪

The Analysis

Given the restrictive ruleset dictating this battle, it's quite easy to anticipate the opponent's strategy, wouldn't you agree? Facing off against Conqueror Jacek in this scenario is practically a given, considering the Summoner's superiority over Tarsha, whose +1 Melee buff would be rendered ineffective in a Wands Out ruleset! 😅

In battles involving the Scattershot ability, a certain degree of luck is undoubtedly necessary to emerge victorious. The unpredictable nature of random attacks keeps everyone guessing about the ultimate outcome. Fortunately, in this particular instance, luck was on my side, and I found favor with the RNG gods! 🙏

In the forthcoming GIFs extracted from the battles, I aim to illustrate precisely why the FORCEFIELD ability takes center stage in today's blog post, as it played a pivotal role in securing my victory.

To be frank, I can't help but feel a twinge of sympathy for my opponent's Djinn Inferni, whose unfortunate luck resulted in wasting three turns as its random attacks landed on my Ifrit Rising, equipped with the FORCEFIELD ability which rendered its attack from a whopping 5 to 1 damage! 😬

Do you guys have any better recommendations for setting up the team in this particular ruleset? Do share them with me in the below comments 😜
