Hello everyone this time I will be participating in this Splinterlands Challenge, where I will be showing you a battle in the modern ranked league, one of which only armored units can be summoned on the battlefield.

First, let's talk a little bit about Gargoya Devil, a ranged neutral unit from the chaos edition, and one of the units I will be using this battle.

Source

Gargoya Devil has low health and armor, but has decent damage power, so it's best to place it in a safe position away from the frontline. It also has three abilities.

Gargoya Devil starts at level 1 with the FLYING ability, which gives it a 25% extra chance to evade melee and ranged attacks from non-flying units.

It also starts with the CLOSE RANGE ability, which allows ranged units to attack from the frontline position as well, a simple but useful ability.

And at level 4, it gains the DEATHBLOW ability, which allows it to deal double damage to its target if it is the only enemy unit remaning on the enemy team.

Some abilities that are great against Gargoya Devil are:

Units with the RETURN FIRE ability will damage rangeds units like Gargoya, if the ranged units succesfully attack them by 50% (rounded up) of the damage dealt.

Units with the WINGBREAK ability will always attack enemy flying units regardless of their position, and deal +2 damage to them.

HOW TO OBTAIN

BATTLE

There are only two modifiers in this battle. The first is the Equalizer ruleset, which changes the health of all units on the battlefield to the unit with the highest base health on either team. Also, as I mentioned before, only armored unit will be able to be summoned due to the Heavy Metal ruleset.

This time I decided to use the summoner, Cryptic, who will slow down the speed of enemy units and cursed them with the Blind ability, so enemy melee and ranged units will have a 15% chance to miss their attacks. Additionally, I chose the right-tactic to give the Poison and Expose ability to two of my units, Gargoya Devil and Broken Earth Thug.

In the first position is Wily Coyotian, who only costs 2 mana and is level 7. It has the Phase ability, so he can evade enemy magic attacks as well as melee attacks.

In the second position is Grimbardun Smith, who takes 50% less damage from all types of attacks. Also, he has immunity to negative effects such as poison. In addition, he has the Repair ability, so he will restore 2 armor to an ally each turn.

Gargoya Devil is in the third position, ready to destroy some units in the backline in the early rounds.

Then, Broken Earth Thug will be in the fourth position and will attack the enemy unit with the lowest health, and also their attacks reduce the max health of the target by 1.

In the fifth and sixth position, Uraeus (attacks the enemy unit in the last position, and its attacks have a 50% chance to apply poison) and Hardy Stonefish (1 mana unit, no abilities) respectively.

In the first round only my Wily Coyotian and both Hardy Stonefishes were damaged, but neither were defeated. But in the second round, the enemy Wailing Wraith defeats my Coyotian. And my Gargoya Devil defeats the enemy Hardy Stonefish.

In the third round, my Hardy Stonefish is defeated by the poison effect. And the enemy Wily and my Grimbardun Smith are poisoned.

In the fourth round, the enemy Coyotian is defeated by the poison.

In the fifth round some units were damaged but none were defeated. And in the sixth round my Uraeus was defeted by the enemy Uraeus. Then, my Grimbardun Smith was defeated by Wailing Wraith. After that, the enemy Endura Brune was destroyed by my Broken Earth Thug. Finally, my Gargoya Devil destroys the enemy Wailing Wraith.

In the seventh round, my Earth Thug and the enemy Chaos Animator are poisoned, but neither is defeated.

In the ninth round, my Broken Earth Thug was defeated by Uraeus, and in the tenth round the enemy Wailing Wraith is defeated by the poison. After that, the enemy Uraeus is attacked and poisoned by my Gargoya Devil.

In the eleventh and last round, my Gargoya Devil destroys the enemy Uraeus by dealing 8 points of damage thanks to its Deathblow ability, ending the battle.

In this battle, thanks to my summoner Cryptic, which allowed me to grant the poison ability to my Gargoya and Broken Earth thug, and with the help of Uraeus which had the ability to apply poison on its own, all of the enemy units were poisoned during the battle, giving my units a huge advantage.

The opponent also used Cryptic and three of the same units I summoned, and was able to destroy all of my units except my Gargoya Devil.

Gargoya Devil showed how powerful it is thanks to its Deathblow ability, which deals double damage when the enemy target is the only enemy unit left, destroying the enemy Uraeus without problem, being the only one to survive the battle.
