Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets - Healed Out

Hey!

… until I finally got a battle with the “Healed Out” rule…, which is the one being featured in this week’s Battle Mage Challenge… let’s get to it!

Healed Out

Pretty simple… you’re not able to use healing abilities. No self-healing, no tank healing and no Triage, so what do we do?

This rule compromises your defensive capabilities, so you got to find alternative ways of guarding your team. Abilities like Void and Shield, in the case of the tank are a must, since you’ll halve the damage of Magic and physical attacks, respectively.

Also, using Monsters with Armor and of course, a Repair card, are a great way of protecting your cards. Void Armor in particular is very effective, because even Magic has to go through the Armor before getting to the Monsters Health points.

At last, Speed is always important, but in this case much more. I would recommend not only to have a fast tank, but also a fast Monster in the last position, to avoid possible Sneak attackers.

Lineup & Analysis

Battle done in the Silver Modern Format. Since only Earth and Dragons cards were available, I chose the Earth Splinter, since my Summoners had a higher level.

Lineup.png

  • I wanted to use a Gladius, so I picked Lobb Lowland as my Summoner, plus it de-buffs my opponent’s Speed.
  • In first position the Fungus Fiend, as a dummy.
  • Then, another dummy, the Mycelic Morphoid.
  • In third position, as the official tank, the Terraceous Grunt. Plenty amount of hit points, plus the Dodge effect.
  • Next, Thane Newsong, who buffs my Melee attacks.
  • In fifth position, my key card, Katrelba Gobson, who has a Double Strike Sneak attack.
  • At last, to protect the backline against potential Sneak attackers, Regal Peryton, an extremely evasive Monster.

Well, the battle was a total failure. It usually happens to me when I want to be too smart, ignoring basic stuff, like just using Magic, and I end up being totally destroyed. I do have to say though that in some occasions, this works out, if certain cards are not around.

Queen Mycelia is definitely a problem for cards with a physical attack, and the Mycelic Slipspawn is also a big barrier, even without healers. Also, the introduction of a card like the Moxian Rebel, allows players to generate an insane amount of Magic damage for very little Mana, if combined with Obsidian, so I definitely should stop using this lineup, regardless of how many battles it made me win. Tactics fluctuate a lot with the introduction of different cards.
