Splinterlands is evolving and developing day by day and as we are playing it we are witnessing new features and functionalities. And one such feature that I find pretty useful is the Combine cards preview which gives us a glimpse into the future. How? Well simply by simulating where the combine operation would take us and if we have leveled up our cards and got new skill or if we remained to the same level. Is this helpful? Sure it is. By seeing the stats after combine with the current ones, you can decide if it is worth to complete the combining or wait to gather some more cards and do the combine at that point. Thus, it can provide you optimizations based on the skills and stats you find the most useful in your battles strategies.
Step 1
Access the Items - Cards page on your account by choosing this option from the Menu.
Step 2
From your Cards Inventory, select the cards which have multiple instances and which can be combined and leveled up. In my case I went with the "Drybone Hobgoblin" Gold Foil as I had already 3 cards of this type.
Step 3
Select the number of cards that you want to combine and push on the "Combine Cards" button. As I have selected a Level 3 Gold Foil, it is enough to pick just 2 cards in order to level up.
Step 4
At this stage we get to the page where the magic happens. The Combine Cards page is opened with the message of "This will combine 2 cards into one at level 4 with 0/3 cards toward level 5. This cannot be undone. Are you sure?" In the same time on the Left side we can see the card at the Current Level and on the Right side we can see the card with all the Skills and Stats after the Combine / Level Up was completed. And for this card we can see that the Unit gets another +1 Life point, thus it will be able to fight more forceful on the battlefield and take more damage.
Conclusion
To tell you the truth the "Combine Cards" new page is one of my favorite updates that were done lately in the game. This provide real time information upon the selected number of cards to combine, while before I would have to go to Stats in order to know what the combine would get me in the end. And doing this visually provides simplicity and easy understanding, which is the most important aspect when it comes to gaming and masses onboarding. I hope to see such fine touches in the future as well as these are increasing usability and users retention.
