Can Untamed Cards Hold Value When Rebellion Comes?

For the article this week, we will breakdown the likelihood of untamed cards holding value over the long term based on their current price as well as current beta prices for similar card power. There will be breakdowns of legendary summoners, legendary cards, as well as legendary reward cards. This is something I think is of interest for a lot of players playing in wild right now as well as given rebellion is on the horizon over the next few months. Without further delay, let us get into the breakdown. 1. Legendary Summoners: This will be a bit of a group assessment rather than card by card breakdown as I think the data is pretty clear on where the future might go. We will take the top three untamed summoners (llama, kitty, yodin) and compare that to the top three beta summoners (valnamor, prince reynn, crypt mancer). Currently on average, the untamed summoners are around $130 a BCX whereas the beta summoners are around $200 per BCX. Now we know print rate is different as untamed is about twice as much as beta summoners on average. That would logically mean if the cards are equally as powerful and print rate is double, the untamed summoners should be half the price of the beta summoners. As you can see, we are pretty close to this currently not taking into account the land factor. Seems like a good value hold currently with a possible 20% or so downturn over the short term possibly.

2. Legendary Untamed: We will go with a few card breakdowns with this one matching up Kron and the Gold dragon as well as Elemental Phoenix and Phantom of the Abyss. In the first matchup the Kron is currently at $32 and the Gold dragon is currently at $38 for one BCX. Both are magic damage dealers and self heal monsters. The print rates are a bit closer than the summoner discussion being only about 50% higher at most for untamed compared to beta. Seems like a great value for the Kron in my opinion that will hold value over time. The Phoenix is currently at $31 while the phantom is at $19. Both high speed, high damage, flight monsters with dodge and damage reflect. The Phantom again seems to be at a good market value right now based on playability and print rate. Would not be worried about either of these untamed cards in my opinion when the transition happens.

3: Legendary Untamed Reward: One v One matchup here for this one pitting the Lord A against Almo. Both neutral legendaries with magic reflect, return fire/thorns, and overall beastly tanks for their mana cost. Both have the same print rate of 10,000. The lord A is currently worth $32 while the Almo is at $18. For this comparison, I would argue there is possibly a value boost in the future for Almo as he is a must have in the wild format especially at the highest level.

As you can see, the value of untamed cards seems to have maybe a 20% decline in the future but the bleeding has mostly happened. I do not see a way these cards really tank heavily being out of modern as many high bank roll players still bot in wild and these will still be needed for that format along with guild brawls and future tourney set ups.
