Hello! This post is for the entry of Battle Mage Secrets weekly challenge. For this week, we have Rise of the Commons as the ruleset. For this post, we have a game from a tournament, that only allows level 1 rebellion cards. With only Common and Rare allowed, this would be really hard to select some cards.
Rise of the Commons
Only common and rare units may be used in battles.
- Summoners are unaffected by this rule.
Rise of the Commons is a ruleset that is pretty easy to understand. But, when selecting cards from the lineup, it would be kind of frustrating if you have a 99 Mana battle with this ruleset, because Common and Rare tends to be usually less than 10 mana. In general, you would want to use strong Common and Rares that is currently available in your card set, and use strong Leg Summoners like Kitty and Llama, because they are not affected.
Battle Info
Rank: Modern Novice - Only Rebellion cards
Avaliable Type: All except Water
Mana: 42
Rise of the Commons: Only common and rare units may be used in battles.
This battle had kind of high mana limit, and it also had only one ruleset, which is Rise of the Commons. Also water Type is not available for this game. To strategize, using Leg Rebellion summoners would be nice, because Rise of the Commons only affect units.
My Lineup
Summoner: Lorkus. For the Summoner, I picked Lorkus. It gives +1 melee and +1 magic attack to our team, as well as Life Leech and Affliction (usually I choose this) to two units. Again, this summoner is pretty strong in most battles, and it would be extra helpful because you cannot use strong Legendary cards in this battle.
First position: Ulundin Overseer. For the Tank, I went with Ulundin Overseer. It is a common card, yet it costs 11 mana and has 12 health. It also has Flank ability, giving the second position unit Reach ability. I tend to use this card in Rebellion card when a decent amount of mana limit is available.
Second position: Grimbardun Fighter. Then, I went with Grimbardun Fighter. Grimbardun Fighter has only 6 health, but I used Lorkus to give Life Leech ability, so that if he deals damage, he would gain some of its attack. Other than that, it also has shield ability which is good for Tanks.
Third position: Gobalano Soldier. Another unit that I like to use with Lorkus, in Rebellion only battle. It has low basic Melee, but Lorkus gives +1 Melee which is useful. Sneak ability allows it to target the back enemy unit at the back side position, and ambush allows them to attack before the battle.
Fourth position: Fenmoor Haunt. This card is also another unit that has Sneak. It doesn't have additional ability, but It has 2 Melee attack and therefore is a decent card overall in Rebellion.
Fifth position: Torch Vizier. Torch Vizier is also a good unit, with having 2 Melee unit and Opportunity(targeting the lowest health enemy unit). I gave it Life Leech ability, because it had better stats overall than the other two Sneak monsters.
Last position: Kha'zi Fire Mage. At the last, I went with Kha'zi Fire Mage. I do not use this card a lot, but with the limited card available, I used it even if they had Scattershot(attack target is random), which I am not in favor of it unless combined with Blast ability.

Ambush
The enemy monsters were revealed and they went with Fire and Earth summoner. Considering the Rise of the Common ruleset, I think that using other Rebellion summoners (Leg) would be a good option. For the units, they used mostly a balanced lineup with Melee, Ranged and Magic.
I attacked their back unit, Nimbledook Ranger at Round 1, but because they had a Lookout unit on their team, I only did 1 damage.
Round 1
Round 1 started and after exchanging some blows, I was able to take down their Nimbledook Ranger, and after some more blows, the Lookout unit on their team also fell down.
Round 2
Round 2 started and my Opportunity unit missed some of the attacks. However, I had strong Sneak units that took out another unit. Meanwhile, Grimbardun was dealing heavy damage on the enemy Grim.
Round 3~4
Enemy Grimbardun and Kha'zi Quickly fell down, and now there was only Endless Ape, which gained health from Scavenger ability was left. Endless Ape was taken down by my units at Round 4. GG!
Thoughts about this battle
Lorkus is just powerful in those lower level limits, but using those Sneak and Opportunity units combined with +1 attack was really powerful in this game.
