Everyone on hearing this was alarmed, the mines were on the borders of the fire kingdom, if Kain was attacking there that constituted a declaration of war, but as they were not fully certain of the matter the most viable decision was to send some warriors to investigate.

Aganju offered to carry out the mission, Malric agreed, and also ordered Cerberus and Serpentine Soldier to accompany him, they could not take this matter lightly, if the responsible is Kain the danger was very considerable.

The relations between the kingdom of death and fire were neutral, despite the war caused by Lord of Darkness years ago there was no retaliation or problems between them, both respected each other, the fact that Kain acted on his own was an advantage, they could finish him without entering into a war, because everyone knew that the emperor of evil would not be responsible for the actions of this one.

Once they left to the mines Aganju drew a combat plan that would allow him to use his ability to the maximum, the idea was to defeat Kain in one blow and from the shadows, however for this plan to work he should not be discovered at any time, so after telling Cerberus and Serpentine he hid from them.

When they arrived at the mines everything seemed to be calm, the dwarves kept working without problems, there was no sign of any attack, although the workers said that only at night there was slight disturbance.

After being interrogated in detail Cerberus and Serpentine soldier took turns to stand guard, for two days they did it without problems but on the third day the atmosphere had changed and everything felt different, that made them be more alert that night.

When dawn broke the dwarves were distressed, two of them were nowhere to be found, they had disappeared like the others but no one realized what happened, neither Cerberus nor Serpentine, both were puzzled and Aganju did not make an appearance. The latter was among them but skillfully hid without being detected, even so he was surprised by the ability of Kain, as he managed to see him from the shadows when he took the dwarves but did not have time to attack him and then lost sight of him.

When night came one of the heads of Cerberus was uneasy, something was disturbing it, Serpentine Soldier noticed it and became alert to attack, the dwarves were asleep and Aganju was lying in wait, suddenly Cerberus got up and ran to a peak near the mine, when he approached he saw a silhouette, it was someone tall, he quickly got carried away by instinct and attacked, but a shadow clouded his vision and when he could see again there was no one.

Serpentine Soldier approached Cerberus and called him to return, but suddenly a silhouette appeared in front of him, and materialized, it was Kain Hace, when he saw him he felt fear but attacked with his spear, this had no effect against the specter of death who looked him in the eyes and put his hand on his chest, At that moment Serpentine felt like his soul left his body but just at that moment he saw an axe at his side, it was Aganju attacking, at the moment of impact Kain disappeared and Serpentine fell there weakened.

Aganju observed his axe and noticed that it had purple blood on the edge, that indicated that it had hit him, but in spite of that Aganju was not calm.

Did he reach it? asked Serpentine.

Aganju said, yes, but slightly, he must be nearby, stay alert, Cerberus is looking for him.

He had not finished speaking when they felt a magical impact in their midst, the two fell to the ground, fortuitously the damage was not greater but they managed to see how Kain removed the soul of the three-headed dog.

"Damn," exclaimed Serpentine, Aganju moved so fast that he seemed to have disappeared, when the soldier noticed Aganju was attacking Kain but again he evaded him in the shadows.

After that a voice was heard: "You don't need to fight, you won't be able to defeat me".

Aganju said: Show yourself Kain.

Sir! said Serpentine, Aganju turned around and Cerberus was lying on the ground, he was like dead, empty inside.

What did you do to Cerberus? asked Aganju in a loud voice.

Kain answered: I have taken his soul, I am a collector.

What? - they answered

Kain told them from the shadows, I collect souls as a hobby, his three-headed dog now belongs to me, there is no way to get it back, they could only do it if they beat me, but that is not possible.

Give back his soul Kain! exclaimed Aganju

After his words there was silence for some time, after that Kain answered: Very well, I will give it to you, but it is your responsibility.

Cerberus stood up but there was something strange about him, his look was different, Kain told them that his soul belonged to him and he could use it as he wanted, then he turned around and said goodbye to Aganju and Serpentine smiling macabrely.

Stay away from Cerberus said Aganju to Serpentine, he is now his puppet, he continued, then he lowered his gaze and remembered with nostalgia how Cerberus was growing in the kingdom, then he sighed deeply and with tears running from his eyes he cut off the three heads of Cerberus who without memories came to devour them.

After that night both understood that Kain had to be eliminated. They gave the news to the kingdom and there was great sadness, as expected Lord of Darkness did not take responsibility for the matter, the mines were closed and a group of warriors commanded by Aganju took the place as a center of operations to search tirelessly for the whereabouts of the evil Kain... but the result was obvious, they never found him.

Todos al oírlo se alarmaron, las minas estaban en las fronteras del reino de fuego, si Kain estaba atacando allí eso constituía una declaración de guerra, pero como no tenían plena seguridad del asunto la decisión más viable era enviar a algunos guerreros para que investigasen.

Aganju se ofreció para llevar a cabo la misión, Malric al oírlo estuvo de acuerdo, y también ordeno a Cerberus y Serpentine Soldier que le acompañaran, no se podían tomar este asunto a la ligera, si el responsable es Kain el peligro era muy considerable.

Las relaciones entre el reino de muerte y de fuego eran neutrales, a pesar de la guerra propiciada por Lord of Darkness años atrás no había represalia ni problemas entre ellos, ambos se respetaban mutuamente, el hecho de que Kain actuara por cuenta propia era una ventaja, podían acabar con el sin entrar en una guerra, pues todos sabían que el emperador del mal no se iba a responsabilizar por los acciones de este.

Una vez salieron hacia las minas Aganju trazo un plan de combate que le permitiese usar su habilidad al máximo, la idea era derrotar a Kain de un solo golpe y desde las sombras, sin embargo para que este plan funcionase él no debía ser descubierto en ningún momento, asi que luego de contarle a Cerberus y Serpentine se ocultó de ellos.

Cuando llegaron a las minas todo parecía estar tranquilo, los enanos se mantenían trabajando sin problemas, no había indicio de ataque alguno, aunque los trabajadores afirmaron que solo en las noches había ligera perturbación.

Luego de ser interrogados a detalle Cerberus y Serpentine soldier se turnaron para hacer guardia, por dos días lo hicieron sin inconvenientes pero al tercer día la atmosfera había cambiado y todo se sentía diferente, eso hizo que estuvieran más alertas en esa noche.

Cuando amaneció los enanos estaban angustiados, dos de ellos no se encontraban por ningún lado, habían desaparecido como los otros pero nadie se dio cuenta de lo que sucedió, ni Cerberus ni Serpentine, ambos estaban desconcertados y Aganju no hizo acto de presencia. Este último se encontraba entre ellos pero hábilmente se ocultaba sin ser detectado, aun asi estaba sorprendido por la habilidad de Kain, ya que logro verlo desde las sombras cuando se llevó a los enanos pero no tuvo tiempo para atacarlo y luego lo perdió de vista.

Cuando llego la noche una de las cabezas de Cerberus estaba intranquila, algo la perturbaba, Serpentine Soldier lo noto y se puso alerta para atacar, los enanos se mantenían dormidos y Aganju al acecho, de pronto Cerberus se levantó y corrió hacia una cima cerca de la mina, cuando se acercó vio una silueta, era alguien alto, rápidamente se dejó llevar por el instinto y ataco, pero una sombra nublo su visión y cuando pudo ver nuevamente no había nadie.

Serpentine Soldier se acercó a Cerberus y lo llamo para que regresaran, pero de pronto una silueta apareció frente a él, y se materializo, era Kain Hace, al verlo sintió temor pero ataco con su lanza, esta no surtió efecto contra el espectro de muerte quien le miro a los ojos y le puso su mano en el pecho, en ese momento Serpentine sintió como su alma abandonaba su cuerpo pero justo en ese instante vio un hacha a su costado, era Aganju atacando, al momento del impacto Kain desapareció y Serpentine cayo allí debilitado.

Aganju observo su hacha y noto que tenía sangre morada en el filo, eso indicaba que si le había golpeado, pero a pesar de eso Aganju no estaba tranquilo.

¿Lo alcanzo? pregunto Serpentine

Aganju le dijo, sí, pero ligeramente, debe estar por acá cerca, mantente alerta, Cerberus lo está buscando.

No había terminado de hablar cuando sintieron un impacto mágico en medio de ellos, los dos cayeron al suelo, fortuitamente el daño no fue mayor pero lograron ver como Kain quitaba el alma al perro de tres cabezas.

“Maldición”, exclamo Serpentine, Aganju se movió tan rápido que parecía haber desaparecido, cuando el soldado se percató Aganju atacaba a Kain pero nuevamente le evadió entre las sombras.

Luego de eso se oyó una voz: no hace falte que peleen, no podrán vencerme.

Aganju le dijo: Muéstrate Kain

Señor! le dijo Serpentine, Aganju volteo y Cerberus yacía en el suelo, estaba como muerto, vacío por dentro.

¿Qué le hiciste a Cerberus? Pregunto Aganju en alta voz

Kain le respondió: He tomado su alma, soy un coleccionista

¿Qué? – respondieron

Kain les dijo desde las sombras, colecciono almas como pasatiempo, su perro de tres cabezas ahora me pertenece, no hay forma de recuperarlo, solo podrían hacerlo si me vencen, pero eso no es posible.

¡Devuelve su alma Kain! Exclamo Aganju

Luego de sus palabras se hizo silencio por cierto tiempo, después de eso Kain respondió: Muy bien, se las daré, pero es su responsabilidad.

Dicho esto apareció frente a ellos y de su mazo salió una luz, Cerberus se levantó pero había algo extraño en él, su mirada se veía diferente, Kain les conto que su alma le pertenecía y podía usarla como él quisiera, después se dió vuelta y se despidió de Aganju y Serpentine sonriendo macabramente.

Aléjate de Cerberus le dijo Aganju a Serpentine, ahora es su títere, prosiguió, luego bajo su mirada y recordó con nostalgia como Cerberus fue creciendo en el reino, después suspiro profundamente y con lágrimas corriendo de sus ojos le corto las tres cabezas a Cerberus quien sin recuerdos venía a devorarlos.

Después de esa noche ambos comprendieron que Kain debía ser eliminado. Dieron las nuevas al reino y hubo gran tristeza, como era de esperarse Lord of Darkness no tomo responsabilidad del asunto, las minas fueron clausuradas y un grupo de guerreros comandados por Aganju tomaron el lugar como centro de operaciones para buscar sin descanso el paradero del malvado Kain… pero el resultado fue obvio, jamás lo encontraron.
