The Power of Dodge in Splinterlands

in Splinterlands12 days ago (edited)

In my journey in Splinterlands, my favorite Stat in the game is speed, after all, who doesn't want to be the first to attack the opponent's cards? But what I like most about the speed Stat is the fact that it helps you dodge attacks and if you combine it with the right strategy, then you will have a powerful weapon in your hands.

In theory, it's easy, so I'll show you in practice through a battle where my opponent couldn't land a single attack on me and, believe me, he had great cards but I had a superior strategy.

The battle I'm talking about was this one and for those who have been playing Splinterlands for a while, you should already know what strategy I'm talking about and how feared my card is, which is in the first position.

I'm talking about the Coeurl Lurker, this incredible monster that is my favorite in Splinterlands and also one of the most hated by my opponents. It has a powerful attack but its main strengths are its abilities, which are Taunt, Dodge, Phase and Thorns. I'm using it at level 3 so it only has Taunt, Dodge and Phase, which in my opinion are the best and the ones I'll need to execute my strategy.

Ability Taunt - This ability will make the Coeurl Lurker the target of all enemy attacks, with the exception of monsters that have the Scattershot ability, since it makes the monster attack randomly.

Ability Dodge - This ability will make the Coeurl Lurker have a +25% chance to dodge melee and ranged attacks, but since it also has the Phase ability, this percentage also applies to magical attacks.

Ability Phase - This ability will make Coeurl Lurker able to dodge magical attacks and this is one of the reasons I love him so much, because he will be able to dodge all types of attacks in Splinterlands. The only exception is when a monster has the ability True Strike, then he will be unable to dodge that monster's attack.

Ability Thorns - This ability makes Coeurl Lurker deal 2 physical damage to the melee monster that deals damage to him, this is a great ability if your opponent has melee monsters in the battle but since my goal is to dodge all attacks then it is not very useful and I prefer to have Coeurl Lurker at level 3 since he is cheaper at that level.

Knowing how amazing this monster is, I will explain my strategy for the battle.

  • My first piece in this battle was to choose the summoner Conqueror Jacek, he is a summoner that will grant +2 speed to my monsters and the abilities Scattershot and Piercing. The main reason I chose him is to increase the speed of my monsters, especially the Coeurl Lurker since it will increase his chances of dodging attacks and the other reason is the ability Scattershot in case my opponent has chosen a strategy similar to mine since my monsters will randomly attack his monsters.

  • The second piece was the Coeurl Lurker that I mentioned before.

  • The third piece was the Spirit Hoarder that has the ability Blind and this means that my opponent's monsters will have a +15% chance of missing attacks and this is music to my Coeurl Lurker's ears.

  • The fourth piece was the Scavo Chemist that has the ability Slow and it will reduce the speed of my opponent's monsters by -1.

  • The fifth piece was the Supply Runner, which has the Swiftness ability and will grant +1 speed to all my monsters.

  • The sixth piece was the Countess Sinash, which also has the Swiftness ability and will grant +1 speed to all my monsters.

My strategy is to increase the chances of the Coeurl Lurker dodging attacks and now all you need to do is watch the show of him not taking any damage in this battle after dozens of attacks.
