BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge - Going the Distance

in Splinterlands10 months ago (edited)

Greetings, brave warriors of the Splinterlands! After a brief forced hiatus, I'm back in action and kicking off this week with a new round of the BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge. Especially this time one of my favourite Going the Distance rules has fallen out, because of which only archers can participate in battles.

It's really fun and fits perfectly with any of the elements (except that Water is a bit weaker... ) and is a great reason to use archers with the ability to attack from the first position. And since I'm a big fan of the dystopian aesthetic, I'm certainly in love with the Queen of Crows element of Death.

The battle I chose for the challenge was not only about Going the Distance, but also about Taking Sides, which doesn't allow neutral cards (goodbye Gargoya Devil), so I went with this lineup:

WAKA SPIRITBLADE

Beloved summoner, giving allies to deal extra damage to the enemy with the Poison ability.

QUEEN OF CROWS

A strong archer with a lot of health and the ability to attack from the first position.

UNDEAD ARCHER & WEIRDING WARRIOR

Given that not all archers can attack from the first position I decided to bet on quantity and gave the next two lines to "light" archers who could hurt the enemy. The first by putting a limit on the healing ability and the second by breaking his first position shields.

RAVENHOOD WARDEN

At the same time I decided to take care of my defence and gave the next line to this archer, which gives allies extra shields.

DHAMPIR STALKER

Strong cards tend to come first, so on this line I put this powerful archer, who hits without a miss. And hits pretty hard!

TWISTED JESTER

The rear is definitely not to be forgotten, so my combo was completed by this fast archer with Snipe ability. Getting a little head start at the beginning of a fight can be very useful!

My opponent was much weaker in card level, but was smart enough to choose Quix the Devious, which makes the quality of my attacks and the speed of my cards much worse.

Thanks to the poisoning ability from WAKA SPIRITBLADE, I was able to get rid of my opponent's powerful LAVA LAUNCER by round two, and then I had to trust that my archers wouldn't miss often because of the speed difference.

During the second round my opponent destroyed my QUEEN OF CROWS, but my cheap archers stood well defensively and I maintained a quality advantage for the rest of the battle.

RAVENHOOD WARDEN and his allied shields completely lived up to the trust and the 4th round was the last for the enemy :)

Watch

Such was the battle.

It was a pleasure to share the experience and I hope we will meet on the battlefield!
