BATTLE LINK -- September 18, 2024 -- Day 262 of 366 vs. @khazrakh
It's been a minute since I played some Modern battles for BOTD, but when you beat one of the best leaderboard accounts to maintain your perfect run to start the season... it's time to squeeze in a post! Brought to you from the JFK Airport Terminal 8 on our way to Legend Valley.
In this 21-mana battle, there were two rulesets: Lost Magic and Born Again. I played into an armor strategy with Lux, adding two rusts and protect to help with the resurrects. I love pairing Lux with the death team, since the speed and armor are both very welcomed abilities for an element that doesn't typically get those boosts.
The featured card of the battle was the unassuming Chaos Legion common Crypt Beatle. The bug's sturdy armor and shield ability meant it stared down Tofu for rounds and rounds of beats. It held the line and got its attacks in while halving the damage from the thorns.
Crypt Beatle looked right in the eyes of Grim Smith and said "Not Today!" Ureaus also put in work with its poison attack to tear up their backline before it, too, perished to the thorns of the cat.
