BATTLE LINK -- January 12, 2025 -- Day 12 of 365 vs. @asdfghjkiraaa

Today's battle comes from Day 1 of the Fight Pit Diamond Series event, which allows for Alpha, Beta, and Chaos Legion card sets during this season. The 44-mana battle had three rulesets: Shades of Gray, Ferocity, and Fire & Regret. Summoners play a huge role in neutral-only battles, and only Fire and Death were available for selection.

My opponent and I both opted for a fire summoner. They chose the speedy and erratic Jacek from Chaos Legion, while I chose Plado, a triple-threat summoner from Beta. I was concerned with my opponent's huge speed advantage and their scattershot ability to attack my weak backline. Despite all monsters getting fury, we both selected Coerl Lurker to taunt the first wave of attacks.

Today's featured card is the Beta rewards legendary, Spirit Miner. At max level, it provides two important support abilities -- swiftness and blind. Swiftness is a big help to any lineup, giving all monsters an extra speed boost to attack sooner and be more evasive. Blind also helps with evasion, as attacks will randomly miss 15% of the time. Blind even applies to magic attacks if the target has phase, like Lurker does.

However, despite the speed buff from Spirit Miner and the slow ability from Kinjo and Plado, my opponent's monsters were faster than mine. But he only had four attackers to start the battle since he lined up his Lurker in the 6th position. We both had Dr. Blight and Venator Kinjo in our backline, but only mine were susceptible to a scattershot attack from the opponent.

My magic attackers, Miner and Prismatic Energy, were influential in my victory. They leveraged the repair ability from Junker to reuse the armor provided by Arkemis, so magic attack was my best route to win. Time was not on my side, because their Dr. Blight kept poisoning different monsters in my backline.

But the durability of my monsters helped me prevail, especially my two magic monsters. They continued to deal damage to the opponent's tank, while their team's attacks were scattered among all six of my monsters. Ultimately, the scattershot from Jacek was a drawback that prevented my opponent from concentrating their attacks on a single monster. Thanks to my team working together, it took down the win. I'll be back with a new battle from Day 2 action in my next BOTD.
