Slaying Quora Towershead

in Splinterlands4 days ago

Several monsters in the realms of Splinterlands have an aura of invincibility. Off the top of my head, there’s the deadly yet cute flying tiger Kralus, the dreadful centaur Kron the Undying, and the rather inconspicuous Quora Towershead. They all have the potential to wipe out entire armies. However, with a tailored strategy, these creatures can still be defeated—especially when they enter the arena surrounded by monsters that lack synergy. Yes, Splinterlands is more about synergy than individual monster strength, just like team sports. Here’s my strategy to slay Quora Towershead; I often manage it without a casualty. Keeping all my monsters alive was possible in this battle, yet Fortuna shone on my opponent this time. My strategy is still worth scrutinizing, though.

I knew I would face Quora, so I needed a gladiator on my side. The ruleset (Tis but Scratches) made speed crucial, so I drafted Helios Matriarch.

To slay Quora Towershead, you must keep the other monsters busy with a decoy tank and have a high HP monster ready to withstand her strikes for as long as possible. Terraceous Grunt is perfect for taking the front row in this strategy.

Terraceous Hulk serves as the decoy. He can block all magic and physical attackers for two rounds, which should be enough time to get Quora to the front and strike her hard.

While I focus on the front monster of my opponent, I also rely on one of the best sneakers in the game, Katrelba Gobson. If Quora is backed by a healer or two, Katrelba Gobson usually handles them.

Now, for the strikers: Kra'ar Xoc and Clockwork Aide, weapon-trained by Ava the Undaunted, form an artillery that shouldn’t be underestimated. These three monsters combined deal 9 damage per round, and thanks to their high speed and Clockwork Aide’s buff, they often hit. These three alone can take down Quora in two rounds, and they only cost 13 mana points!

The Battle

This battle unfolds similarly to others where I face Quora Towershead. Sometimes Quora is surrounded by two martyrs instead of just one, sometimes there’s a healer or a monster with a shield buff, but in the end, the result is the same.

My strikers eliminate Mycelic Slipspawn, and Katrelba Gobson delivers the final blow (as always, unless the battle takes place under the Reversed Speed ruleset), buffing himself. Quora’s first strike goes in vain, as Terraceous Hulk can stand several of her hits.

When Quora reaches the first position and can use both her attacks, she faces Terraceous Grunt, who has 11 HP—just as planned. She can't take him down in a single round, and she can't rely on her mates, who are still targeting my decoy tank. By the end of the second round, Quora hasn’t slaughtered anyone and is on the brink of defeat.

The third round opens with Katrelba Gobson finishing off my opponent's two remaining rear monsters, leaving Quora alone. With a bit of luck, Terraceous Grunt may have dodged her blow and survived the battle. Even though that didn’t happen this time, Quora, now buffed, couldn’t survive the third round. Katrelba Gobson, with his speed buffed, was ready to finish her off, even if my ranged artillery didn’t succeed in the second round.

Conclusion

No monster is truly invincible in Splinterlands. With the right strategy, you can take down even the deadliest opponents with minimal losses. This strategy has worked perfectly for me. Feel free to try it out!

Good work! In Bronze she's very OP, most of the counter abilities only come in Silver and up, like Affliction and Dispel (both work great) until she gets to level 3 where she gets immunity, but not many players have a higher level Quora 🙂 except for the top.
Olivia of the Wild is the new OP beast it seems!

Thanks :)
