Hello battlers,
https://peakd.com/splinterlands/@splinterlands/share-your-battle-weekly-challenge-cerberus
Life hasn't been easy with CoVid still haunting people all around the world and here in India, we are still fighting Corona to survive although the cases seems to have been reducing on daily basis.
Here I am with this blog for this week's Splinterlands Weekly Challenge with theme of Cerberus.
Cerberus as we know, is a healing monster mostly used at the front because of it's melee attack capability or it's possible to use it in the middle of the lineup in certain types of rules like equalizer, melee mayhem or super sneak oh yeah, there is one more I can remember like equal opportunity ruleset.
This monster is from Fire Splinter and belongs to Alpha and Beta versions, the earlier 2 versions of Splinterlands and this monster is of rare type.
Let's see what this monster can offer at each level as shown in the above screenshot.
We can see that, it has melee attack ranged between 2 and 4 as it starts with 2 attack and that gets to 3 from level 3 and goes to 4 in penultimate level i.e. level 7 since it's a 8 level monster.
When we talk about the speed of this monster, it has speed range between 3 to 5 with speed increasing to 4 from level 4 and increases to 5 from level 6.
The health of this monster varies between 5 to 9 and since it's a healing monster, it's better to have this leveled up to have extra benefits.
It comes with abilities like healing from level 1 itself and gets another ability retaliate from level 5.

As we see above, this battle was with equalizer ruleset and there was a Mana cap of 18 and I felt this is a good one to use Cerberus and accomplish this Weekly Challenge and I used below lineup for this battle:
Cerberus:
Although I don't own this card either in regular or gold format, I got this delegated card from Splinterlands team thanks to their program of delegating Alpha and Beta version cards and I used this upfront since this is a healing monster and can regain some of it's health back at each round.
Magma Troll:
This is another good card and since this is a reach ability monster, it can attack from second position and I used this to attack in tandem with Cerberus and get rid of first card from opponent at the earliest.
This, Cerberus and Serpentine Spy had a combined attack of 9 which was equal to the maximum health the monsters can have in this battle because of equalizer ruleset.
Creeping Ooze:
Used this purely to reduce the speed of the monsters from opponent's lineup to have that extra benefit of attacking first.
Serpentine Spy:
This was a good addition to this lineup as this combined with first 2 monsters I used, were able to get rid of healing monster opponent had used.
Goblin Shaman:
Used this to reduce the speed and reduce the health by one.
This also gives that much needed one magic attack.
Furious Chicken:
Lastly, I used this zero Mana cost monster for possible sneak attack.
Battle:
Round 1:
Opponent used a level 4 Flesh Golem at the front and that didn't get a chance to attack at all as it got removed courtesy of attacks from Serpentine Spy, Magma Troll and Cerberus and also the reduced speed because of Creeping Ooze and Goblin Shaman with Shaman also reducing the health by 1.
Round 2:
Going by the details from round 1, it's assured that front monster from opponent's lineup will go by each round since there is a max health of 9 and first 3 attacks from the monsters I used will get rid of that front monster.
In this round, Furious Chicken has to go.
Round 3:
There was no possibility of any of the monsters I used to get removed since Wood Nymph was the only monster to attack front monster i.e. Cerberus.
Creeping Ooze, the third monster from opponent's lineup got removed in this round.
Round 4:
Goblin Thief moved to the front after removal of Creeping Ooze and it was shown the door too since all the monsters have health of 9.
Round 5:
The removal of Goblin Thief means opponent's last monster Wood Nymph was left to continue the battle and it also got removed in this round before it could heal itself and attack.
The heroes for me in this battle were ofcourse 3 melee attackers Serpentine Spy, Magma Troll and theme monster of Cerberus, but, more than that, it's the combination of Creeping Ooze and Goblin Shaman to double reduce the speed and Shaman reducing the health as well.
Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
Yes, it was a good lineup and once the opponent's monsters had reduced speed, it was impossible for those to force a defeat.
I don't think I could have accommodated any other monster in this lineup to make it better than what it was in the battle.
Do you like the CERBERUS? Why or why not?
To be frank, as I said, I don't own this card and that means, I haven't used this much and can't say much about this. But from what I felt from this battle is, a level 1 monster was good enough to give 3 melee attack and a leveled up one would be more dangerous and hence, I feel this one is good to have in certain rulesets.
That was a good battle for 18 Mana cap and I think you too enjoyed going thru the details in this blog.
Thanks and have a nice day :)
Good job against that L4 Golem that's speed for you!

Upvoted 👌 (Mana: 23/48) Liquid rewards.
Yes sir,
The double downgrade of speed of opponent's monsters thru Creeping Ooze and Goblin Shaman made that win possible for me.
Thank you the tipu curation, appreciate that.
Thanks for sharing! - @ashikstd
