Hey guys, time for another weekly battle challenge!
This week we have the theme of Dragons!
A favorite mythical creature of mine, to be honest, so let's see what we can do with the ones I have.

Rulesets, ideas and team composition:

rulesets.png

  • Armored Up: All monsters have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat;
  • Broken Arrows: Ranged attack Monsters may not be used in battles;
  • 42 mana cap;
  • Available Splinters - Water, Life, Death, Dragon.

Because we have the Broken Arrows ruleset I automatically discard the Life splinter, just because I really like General Sloan and for this mana cap I dont believe Mother Khala would do good. Death i mostly use in lower mana battles, mainly for a sneak play with Cursed Windeku. So the choices left are Water with Djinn Oshannus and Nerissa Tridawn combo. Given that I still only have level 2 Kelya and can't use the level 2 I have on Oshannus I decide to go for Delwyn Dragonscale just to buff up the magic damage and why shove melee attackers when all monsters will have 2 free armor. So here is what I end up with:

Monster I chose:Why I chose it:
delwyn.pngSo, as I already explained I decide to go for Delwyn to boost the heavy magic damage I intend to use in this battle. Also, this way if the enemy decides to go Thaddius our base damage wouldn't be affected.
djinn-oshannus.pngGiven that the Delwyn I can use is only level 1, this means that Djinn Oshannus will also be level 1 and not have his Phase ability. Anyways he makes up quite a good tank with 5 speed, 10 hp and Void.
nerissa-tridawn.pngSecondly, as kind-of an off-tank I chose Nerissa Tridawn. The high base magic damage and 9 hp make her an idead pick for high mana battles.
chaos dragon.pngDelwyn's co-star in this battle - the Chaos Dragon. A favorite of mine, if I may say. The 3(+1) damage and the Scattershot ability make him quite deadly if luck is in our favor.
ice pixie.pngNext up - Ice Pixie for 2 mana and Flying its a no-brainer. Also the armor ruleset makes it abit redundant to shove in Venari Wavesmith so we can easily smash some more damage in.
elven-mystic.pngAs only 4 mana is left, why not put in some more magic damage - the Elven Mystic.
furious-chicken.pngSo 0 mana and a spot left - put in a Furious Chicken.

Battle

Round 1

1.png
So our opponent enters the arena and I am kind of happy to see the team he has built. Things are looking pretty good, since he hasn't even used the mana pool and at first glance he doesnt have enough damage to beat us, but lets see what happens.
As expected we are starting really good with a few smacks on Diemonshark, but Merdaali Guardian manages to sneak in a 2 hp heal on him to keep him alive for one more attack. Our Chaos Dragon lands a good 4 damage on the Deeplurker and our Elven Mystic and Ice Pixie finish off the Diemonshark. Next up on the frontline is the poor Scavo Hireling.

Round 2

2.png
Right off the start of Round 2 Djinn Oshannus kills Scavo Hireling. River Nymph tickles Djinn Oshannus again for the massive 0 damage. The mean Deeplurker manages to overwhelm and kill our Ice Pixie. Chaos Dragon lands a killing blow on the River Nymph, Nerissa and the Elven Mystic quickly dispatch of the enemy Disintegrator, and we can deal full melee damage now, lol. And the round ends.

Round 3

3.png
The battle is pretty much clear at this point, but thats what happens - Djinn Oshannus kills the Merdaali Guardian in 1 blow, Deeplurker manages to land a 3 damage attack on Oshannus and Chaos Dragon finishes what he started in round 1 - killing the Deeplurker.

Result and post-game thoughts:

The battle went pretty good and as expected. The power of the magic damage when the enemy relies quite heavily on the armor worked perfectly. The only mistake I noticed I've made for the specific battle is that I didn't protect the Ice Pixie from Opportunity, not that it mattered in the end result, but perhaps its something to think about the next time.

Thank you for your time!
As always, if you have any suggestions or mistakes you notices I've made I'd be happy to drop a comment below and discuss it.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
