I've been trying to figure that out as well. Is it more cost effective to rent vs buying the cards I need to get to the next league. From an outside perspective (I mainly rent out my cards) it looks like renting a higher level summoner is the way to go vs renting monster cards. Yeah the summoners cost more to rent but the monsters you rent will add up in price quickly.

And from my experience I win matches in Bronze/Silver/Gold not because I'm good at the game but because I had max level (for the league) monsters vs their better monsters at lvl 1.
