It's a Knockout!

Heavy Hitters is an interesting ruleset to work with. It is one of those rulesets that can have a real impact on a battle when you utilise it correctly. However, there are times when a ruleset selection overrides another and it is one of those situations in our battle today.

Heavy Hitters

All Monsters have the Knock Out ability.

"Use a monster with Stun ability. There is a 50% chance that your monster with Stun will be able to stun enemy monsters, but if successful, all your monsters will deal double damage to that stunned opponent."

Little League

Only Monsters & Summoners that cost 4 Mana or less may be used in battles.

"Monsters and summoners of 4 Mana or less will be the only ones available in this ruleset. Try increasing your defense by using summoners that give +1 armor or +1 health.

Use monsters with at least 2 magic damage and 2 ranged damage. Using Mylor as summoner in this ruleset helps a lot." - Splintercards

Mana

With 21 mana there are plenty of options here but the main focus will be on attacking with as high damage as possible. I'll use my Life deck based on it being my highest level deck and there are a few good small mana monsters available which should fit the bill.

My project-1.png

Line up:

General Sloan

General Sloan_lv4.png

Using the summoner General Sloan, I am hoping to utilise my L4 cards where possible. In particular this card will add damage to one of my more important healers. I think increasing damage will be critical in order to ensure they penetrate any armour of an opponent using a Shield ability in particular.

Pelacor Conjurer

Pelacor Conjurer_lv4_gold.png

I've come to really appreciate the Pelacor Conjurer. With 4 speed and 5 health it is fairly healthy for a two mana card. But the reason I am liking it at 4th level is the Magic Reflect that comes with it.

Blinding Reflector

Blinding Reflector GF 3.png

Taking the Blinding Reflector to level 5 is something I am looking into at the moment as part of my Silver level upgrades. As a cheap tank it works well and at fourth level it gains an additional attack while it fifth level it would have Magic Reflect as well. For now though it's armour and good health will serve as a semi decent tank for its mana cost.

Uraeus

Uraeus_lv3.png

I am planning to go strong with sneak here. Uraeus is an awesome card and with 2 damage along with armour this card will some work for my lineup, I hope.

Stitch Leech

Stitch Leech_lv4_gold.png

3 damage and sneak adds to the strategy here. I am hoping the front line will sustain while I penetrate the backline of the opponent.

Dax Paragon

Dax Paragon_lv2.png

Using a second level Dax allows me to access the Amplify ability to increase Magic Reflect damage. Noticing my opponent has used a strong selection of Earth recently, it makes sense to hedge my bets in this way.

Venari Crystalsmith

Venari Crystalsmith_lv3.png

For my final card, I am boosting Crystalsmith's damage to ensure it does does damage against a Shield ability- just in case. At the same time the plan is to heal the Conjurer or Reflector as needed throughout the battle. I have just purchased a few more BCX of this card to boost it to level four for future battles. As that would give this card an additional base damage in the future for Silver.

Opposing Lineup:

Obsidian

As I hoped, my opponent has increased magic damage. I hope this will indicate plenty of magic to come.

Mycelic Morphoid

Mycelic Morphoid_lv3.png

At third level Mycelic Morphoid gains a Thorns ability which will inflict damage to incoming melee. A good choice for the cost but I would have expected a stronger tank from the opponent.

Failed Summoner

Failed Summoner_lv2.png

A great choice for magic reflect and this will pose a threat to my Dax. I am not sure I would have chosen this card though. I'd likely have selected a ranged attacker and placed the next card further forward.

Xenith Monk

For Little League the Self Heal ability is a really strong ability to have. A good choice of splinter in this ruleset. Perhaps this would be better further forward?

Queen Mycelia

Queen Mycelia_lv1.png

Adding additional Armour is an excellent idea in a battle like this. There is some magic damage here which will likely help me toward victory a little faster especially due to Amplify. So ideally, I should have this card dealt with in two turns. However, that said, this is a good card choice that I have countered.

Khmer Princess

Another example of a good cheap card for the mana. Unfortunately for my opponent, I am set to counter this card pretty hard. A good choice of card in another battle.

Venari Scout

This card could be a danger to my lineup. I've recently come to notice this card is actually pretty strong as it can really help to take out opposing healers. The Venari will initially target my Uraeus.

Pre-Battle Thoughts:

I think the lineups have worked well into my strategy. My opponent has appeared to play magic as I had hoped so ideally if my set up correctly, I have potentially earned a victory.

Final Thoughts:

Overall a good set up from my opponent. I would probably have looked into a stronger first position monster than the Mycelic Morphoid. Perhaps a Hill Giant would have fit better for the task? The Magic Reflect worked very well and from my perspective apart from upgrading a couple of my cards, I think this has worked well.

Heavy Hitters is a ruleset you can often ignore as both I and my opponent have in this battle but do be aware. Occasionally Heavy Hitters can come around to hurt you!

Here is an example of a player using the ruleset against me successfully on my other account: https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_ab97bc5783e1a9929e688f2818289569&ref=holdeck

The stun from Revealer is huge allowing every hit to work twice as effectively. I stood no chance!
