So unless you are living under a rock, you'll know that today in the AMA, the #Splinterlands team revealed the MASSIVELY anticipated first look into...
Dr. Blight!
And from the reaction from all the attendees of the show, it added even more FOMO to the game (as if there wasn't enough already...)
We all go take a look at the stats for the card and I thought I'd go over my initial reaction and game plan for the next few weeks leading up to...The release of Chaos Legion!
First up, the stats:
This is a unique experience for me because for the first time in my brief life on Splinterlands, I actually understand what this card represents.
The biggest takeaways for me are:
He's Neutral!!!
I love these cards. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy picking my splinter of choice and going into battle, but neutral cards are just so versatile. The fact that Doctor Blight is a neutral card adds another weapon for us who are lucky enough to get him in the air drop!
It's MAGIC!!!!
I love this method of attack! I've been able to win quite a few battles simply by using a heavy magic attack and you see a pattern maybe? First Djinn Oshannus is a magic monster and now Dr. Blight. Maybe magic will play an extra special role in Chaos Legion?
Low Mana!!!
Only 4 mana so this card will be able to sneak into those low many battles! He doesn't have huge attack, speed or health but those abilities will help in all battles as well!
Affliction, Slow, Poison, Scavenger and Weaken...Oh My!
When this card is maxed out, watch out! My goodness, it's loaded. And you combine the fact that it's a low many card, with magic attack AND neutral....It's safe to say that Dr. Blight will become a player favorite for years to come.
I'm excited to get this card and will continue my journey in stacking SPS and VOUCHER to give my deck the best possible chance to receive this in the air drop.
But who am I kidding....Even if I don't get the card, I'll be sure to grab a few copies off the market and I can't wait to see what the gold foil version of him will be selling at.
It's an exciting time in the 'Lands!
What are your thought on Dr. Blight?
You excited to play with him?
What possible combinations do you think this card will be used for it's full potential?
Chaos Legion can't come soon enough!!!!
Yes Having another Magic neutral card to work with is a wonder. The abilities are ones we use reguarly with Slime ball. I think it will be a nice addition to Delwyn as the Dragon summoner.
Yeah, I can see him pairing up good with Delwyn.
Do you tend to lean heavier on cards with magic abilities. I was completeing a Water Splinter Quest, and noticed stacking cards with magic attacks work well against cards that have +1 to +3 shields.
That is a cool card. He is dressed like a Medevil Plague Doctor is pretty cool. Those costumes are so creepy. I am also starting to get caught up in the story of the different cards, plus how cool is it to get cards as a quest reward :-) Awesome achievement congrats, on the 700 upvotes :-)
Thanks man, slow and steady! Keep showing up, I know nothing else lol
Thought he was a summoner, low cost mana cards are the bomb!
Yeah, I cant wait to see the summoners they come up with.
Simply put this card is a must have! Wonder how much it will kick off at, I won't be waiting to get it for free!
Yeah absolutely. I'll get one with my packs I'm buying...But I'm after that Gold Foil lol
Wow... a level 2 is good enough for Gold with the magic and, slow, affliction and poison.
Crazy right...I cant wait to get this thing in matches!
When I see this card I might think of buying some packs all the same lol. I think this is going to be very powerful in equalizer rulesets when fully developed. It seems however quite vulnerable to magic reflect because it has only 3 life.
The addiction LOLOL
I was a little underwhelmed TBH - it's pretty easy to counter - SLM and cleanse would totally eradicate affliction, as would a fast cleanser, and he'd be weak against double opportunity.
Having said that it hopefully sets the scene for Chaos - very marginal gains for taking it to max and most of the benefits come with L3, which makes it more accessible.
It's perfect for someone like me whose on for about 7-8 of these - I want an L3 and then a couple to spare on top!
Man, I'm still trying to get enough vouchers for a 100 pack deal LOL
Serves me right for sleeping on Splinterlands for the first few years.
Well I hardly aped into it back then, got lucky with mass sell off making card cheaps when Hive was first created back in Spring last year!
Looks pretty good to me. I'm not getting enough vouchers to get more than 50 packs and I don't have enough money to buy more than 50 more vouchers for another one, so I'll sadly only be getting one (unless I'm really lucky), but I will be watching the market and if he dips in price I'll buy a few more.
Yeah the vouchers are like a double edged sword...Keeping everyday players for apeing in...But also keeping the whales at bay...for the time being LOL
Awesome buddy still working on getting better cards and how to play lol getting there though thanks for sharing have the best day
Appreciate that man, hope you are feeling better!
Thanks bro much appreciated

It's an awesome card! We only need to be careful to give him time for scavenger to do its thing and increase its life.
I have noticed that a lot of writers here at 1up write about their favorite cards and why they love them. Just by reading articles can be a huge Splinterlands education.
