I began playing splinterlands during the 2021 bull run with the little cash I could muster, and despite not throwing enough cash (which I regret), I have been able to make some progress, and in three years, my investment has plummeted due to the bear market, but I have been able to earn some decent SPS along the way from my investment in the Chao Legion collection, as well as my contribution from playing ranked battles and in the Guild.
So, since I did not throw as much money as I should have, should not I be happy that the price of 95% of splinterlands assets has dropped? No, not really! I am really not. If I had more assets, I could have made a lot more money along the way, which could have turned into more passive income over time. For example, if I had more Choas legion packs, I could have received more airdrops, earned more staked SPS, and obtained more legendary cards.
Although I could have done so with the new generation of cards, they were released during a bear market, making it difficult to invest. I still believe that if Rebellion had been released during the bull market with more detailed tokenomics, it would have been incredible for both the splinterlands economy and the players, but the game needed to raise funds.
Unfortunately, Choas Legion's tokenomics have caused many cards to lose value, but it has helped a lot of players get started in 2021. However, now is the best time to buy Rebellion cards and packs because they will eventually retain value and perform well in the bull market.
Aside from that, I made it to Diamond 3 in Wild for the first time in three years. I believe that this is impossible in Modern. It is a brutally competitive environment, and I do not think small deck owners or investors should venture there.
However, I am not sure I will be able to stay in diamond 3 unless I upgrade a lot of my cards and summoners, but getting there with the deck I have is quite an accomplishment.
Where Do I Need To Put In The Money?
For example, raising my Possibilius the Wise to level 3. My Thaddeus Brood is at level 4, as are the majority of my CL summoners. It is possible to get some Rebellion summoners, possibly at level two, and upgrade some of my cards. To do these, I will need at least $300, which is a lot of money for me. The market is crowded, and the reward system will soon change, and we do not know how this will affect rewards.
It may become difficult for players to continue earning SPS in the same way they were. The numerous changes in Splinterlands require money to keep up with them, and I believe that these changes should be reduced for the benefit of both players and investors. GLINTS are the most recent changes scheduled for April 2, and I am curious how they will affect ranked battles.
I have been focusing on buying SPS, but it appears that moving up the league requires building more cards. I want to see how far I can go in the diamond league, which will influence my next steps.

I agree with you that the Chaos Legion cards were a mistake because too many were put into circulation but fortunately the same mistake was not made afterwards.

Thank you. It's an accomplishment for me. Truth be told CL did Everything right including the timing, but the tokenomics wasn't really too good and they learned that with rebellion.

Playing in modern is just hard... Congratulations on making diamond, it feels good doesn't it? Splinterlands is becoming an expensive game to play at the top levels though. You need a lot of SPS and high level cards to really stand a chance. I have noticed rental prices are going up a bit, so maybe it's a sign of a turnaround! Let's cross our fingers.

Rental prices going up is a really good sign I must say. SPS will even become more expensive it players can no longer earn it as rewards according to the new system we have in place at the moment. Yes, it feels good making diamond, but I'm not going to stay there for too long as I don't have all the cards to compete.
It's a tough league! With those rental prices going back up it may mean we have more active players. I'll cross my fingers!

Despite the drop in value, it seems like Splinterlands has become even more competitive than ever. I also noticed there's been some changes in the battle system, which I'll need to read about when I come back.
Yes, there was no need selling since after 2021 the prices dipped. Better to use them to keep competing and accumulating and hope for the better.
Splinterlands is even more competitive. Playing in Modern proves this. To even compete in silver you might need level 5 or 6 summoners. So yes.

It's possible in wild, but a bad idea in modern. Modern has all the money, so more players and competition
Wow, congratulations on Diamond 3. I have a lot of my summoners at level 4 but I am stuck in Silver in modern. It might look like I need to go over to Wild sooner rather than later. I might give it a try next season because modern is just too tough.
I tried silver in modern long time ago, I was losing so bad. I don't think making modern more rewarding will make people play there. A lot of people cannot just sell their cards to come play in modern.
I think level 5 summoners are a minimum for Diamond League. Along with level 6 rare and commons. I haven't been able to stay in Diamond but like you said, making it this far is an achievement in itself.
I can say I was lucky today, the system paired me well. I don't expect it to be this way tomorrow. But, it's really a great accomplishment. I've never played here and the new system is what made it possible. I barely make it to gold 3 before.

There were a lot of people who got into the game in 2021 but stopped playing because the prices were low, so now we're seeing prices go up again because the market cycle has changed. All people will return.
