BATTLE MAGE SECRETS : EVEN STEVENS

When you are under Even Stevens ruleset, you will need to be selective on your Splinters, since only even-numbered mana may be deployed. In my opinion most of the cards with even mana value lay down a solid foundation for that mana level, while the next mana level is more of their upgrade. For instance 4 mana card such as Xenith Monk, Chaod Rear Guard, Antoid Platoon make an unrivaled stats to the 3 mana cards, but 5 mana card seemed to show less improvement than the predecessor. So a second thought might be needed when playing under this rulest.

The battle has a maximum 40 mana cap, with Even Stevens and Fire & Regret as the rulesets; while all Splinter are allowable except for Earth Splinter.

I decided to go unorthodox way by taking Eternan Brune as the summoner. With this my formation should have access to 1 (one) gladiators. Tusk The Wide will be the frontman which I expect to fend off any magic attack. Next I deploy the strongest gladiator from Fire Splinter, Chimney Wallstop. For the next 3 (three) rows, I pick mid-mana magic card with 2 magic damage at most. And last but not least is Flame Mephit (which I forgot about the Fire & Regret ruleset).

Meanwhile my opponent decided to go with Thaddius Brood, a choice effective enough to numb down my magic cards. The formation is an all out magic cards. The frontier is led by Prismatic Energy, a solid Tanker magic card (but costing 8 mana). The next 3 (three) row is a combination of Weapon Training squad. Starting with Will-O-Wisp, Skok Dustblight, and Riftwing. These are tough squad for their health will valued above 10 in average. And then there is Venari Bonesmith and Ravenwood Warden. Fortunately the Protect ability will be nullified by Eternan Brune debuff.

Tusk The Wide stood like a bastion for my formation. But the incoming 2 damage still pose a threat. With 3 magic damage and 1 ranged damage coming, Tusk The Wide might only hold up to the 3rd round. The first round mess up my momentum so much. Affected by Thaddius debuff and Weaken, my formation dropped down mostly to 1 health remaning. And when Flame Mephit and Kha'zi Fire Mage make their attack, it only turned into their death warranty due to the counter-attack. Fortunately Chimney managed to score a kill and claimed the first Bloodlust.

The battle continue to 2nd round, Tusk The Wide sustain another damage and down to 2 health. Meanwhile a brutal hit form Chimney sent Will-O-Wisp to 2 health. The Fire & Regret return the ranged damage back to Ravenwood Warden leaving it with 1 health remaining.

With Tusk The Wide finally fall down, its time for Chimney to step up. The normal damage sustained by Chimney put a huge threat. And then again there's Life Leech coming from Venari Bonesmith. Chimeny then collect its 2nd Bloodlust by defeating Will-O-Wisp. And Ravenwood Warden meet its demise from the final returned damage.

The 4th round and its 3 against 3. Chimeny clear out the 3rd Bloodlust from Skok Dustblight. But after that my formation have to face against Riftiwing which already accumulating a total of 13 health.

In the 5th round, Chimney missed its attack, washing down a great momentum to end the battle once and for all. With 3 health remaining, the next round is the deciding round for my formation. Magi Of Chaos and Technowizologist wouldn't be able to catch up to Riftwing health.

At this final moment, Chimney finally lands the final blow into Riftwing. This quickly change the tide of the battle in my favor as Venari Bonesmith are the one left behind. It only take another round for my formation to secure victory.
