Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to another edition of Splinterlands Social Media Challenge! Another brawl has just concluded by our guild. I'm happy with our guild's rankings and my personal contribution is the best as far as I can remember since I joined. We earned some decent SPS and Merits.
Guild Brawl
In the recent brawl, our guild was in third place with two hundred sixty four points winning eighty eight battles and losing eighty. Our guild earned one hundred four crowns to use in the upgrade of our buildings.
This has been my best brawl performance as far as I can remember since joining the guild. I won seven out of eight battles and was the top performer in our guild! Each of us earned seventy five SPS and five thousand Merits.
Gladius Cases Purchase
I have over eight thousand Merits which I used it to buy four Gladius cases. Each case contains five cards with one guaranteed rare or better. This means that I will have twenty new cards to add to my collection.
Last week, I got two legendary cards from the Gladius Cases including the elusive Tatiana Blayde who was added to my collection for the first time. I'm hoping to get another legendary card or even an epic this time. However, I'm not so lucky as I only got common and rare cards. They can be added to upgrade my existing collection when I have enough copies.
Featured Battle
Earthquake Ruleset
In this battle, there were three rulesets but Earthquake was the main ruleset to consider. I had to choose units that can best take advantage of this and I luckily my favorite splinters were available for this battle.
My Team
Quix the Devious (summoner)
Quix the Devious is a Dragon splinter summoner. Aside from his debuffs, the advantage of using him as a summoner is I can combo Dragon units with any splinter. The Dragon splinter also has a lot of good flying units. In this battle, I chose the Light splinter which I usually combo with Dragon.
Uriel the Purifier (tank)
Uriel is a great tank in normal battles but in Earthquake ruleset, his Flying ability makes him shine more. On the other hand, the ruleset also includes Unprotected so he doesn't have an armor.
Captain Katie (second position)
Captain Katie is one of the best rare Gladiator cards. She does decent damage, has three speed and seven health for sustainability. She's one of my damage dealers in this battle.
Night Reaper (third position)
The Night Reaper is key card in Earthquake rulesets. Not only can it fly, it's also a nightmare for enemy flying units. The Night Reaper hunts enemy flying units and does an additional two damage. My Night Reaper can do five magic damage to enemy flying units.
Adelaide Brightwing (fourth position)
Adelaide Brightwing is a perfect support unit for Uriel the Purifier due to her Repair ability. She is also great for Earthquake and Poison rulesets because of her Flying and Immunity abilities. In this battle however, her utility was diminished because there are no armors. She is still useful though with her damage potential and she can fly.
Halfling Refugee (fifth position)
The Halfling Refugee is a one mana card with six health. I usually use him as a tank in low mana battles or place him in the last position to defend against Sneak attackers. He does this job well and protect my back rank. In this battle, I only used five units instead of six because there were only forty mana available.
The Opponent's Team
My opponent used a summoner that grants Flying to all of his units aside from the other buffs it gives. On the tank position, he used the Coeurl Lurker who is very difficult to hit because of his Dodge and Phase abilities coupled with its four speed. This is one of the best tanks in the game with a combination of defense and damage potential. On the other hand, the ruleset includes Reversed Speed, making his Coeurl Lurker easy to hit!
In the second position, he has a unit with Martyr ability. No doubt his strategy is for this unit to sacrifice its life to strengthen his other units. On the other hand, he forgot one important detail: my units will attack his tank first because it has Taunt. Also, all of his units can fly so these units with Martyr ability will not die from the Earthquake ruleset thus, he cannot take advantage from placing the unit in second position.
In third position, he has a Countess Sinash, a legendary ranged unit.
In fourth, he used a Katrelba Gobson for his Gladiator card. Katrelba is the best common unit in the Gladiator set. In damage potential she can compete with the legendaries with her Sneak and Double Strike abilities. She can quickly stack her stats with her Bloodlust ability as in this battle.
In fifth he has another unit with Martyr and in sixth and last position he has a Doctor Blight. A very strong team anchored on his tank.
The Battle
My opponent fielded a strong team that's kept together by his tank. As long as his tank survives then the chances for him to win increases. On the other hand, I have a star card in Night Reaper who does five magic damage to all flying units. Since all his units can fly, my Night Reaper will hunt them all down. Because of the Reversed Speed ruleset, his tank was not able to Dodge my magic attacks and was down in round two. On the other hand, my opponent's Katrelba Gobson is decimating my team and triggering her Bloodlust ability. In the end, it was my single Night Reaper against three of my opponent's units. Night Reaper, my star card in this battle, disposed all the remaining enemy units giving me the win.
Final Thoughts
The above battle has three rulesets but I had no difficulty in choosing a winning team. This was because of my familiarity with the Chaos Legion set. Pretty soon, the Chaos Legion set will move to Wild League and I will have to learn new strategies to win in this game. It's part of what makes Splinterlands interesting and fun to play and I'm already preparing to build my new competitive deck.

7 wins with one loss only! Wow mate, you really did some chaos there with our performance in that ma brawl. Hope you are using your hard-earned glint tokens to upgrade cards and making your collection more powerful.
Thank you. Yes, I'm always on the lookout to upgrade my cards. Now, saving some HBD for Conclave Arcana 😀
All the best in advance in your CA booster pack buy then! My favourite pack out of them all is alchemy one and yours? 🎰
Thank you. I bought only standard packs. I can see why you like alchemy packs since they give the highest chance of getting a black foil. I hope you get them 😀
Haha, at this point I have lost all hope on LB rewards, so just happy to get the free promos. with Alchemy packs, I have to spend another 200$ to purchase the midnight potions, so have to take care of it first before I open them and luckily get once or two 😅
