Overview
The new Weekly ruleset Challenge is an amazing twist that I am enjoying so far and I hope there will be twists like that in the future to keep this Challenge's fresh. 😁
This week the ruleset is the Counterspell, which means that all units receive the magic reflect ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with magic receive damage back. 😉
- Damage returned is equal to the damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up.
- Magic units with the reflection shield ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks.
- The amplify ability increases damage.
The upcoming Battle ruleset

The mana cap for my next battle was 39, which should be enough to setup a decent team, but it will be important to pay attention for the Back to Basics ruleset. That ruleset will eliminate all the abilities of the monsters on either side of the battlefield, so it needs to setup a team in power order and use mostly ranged attack monsters to let them attack from the backline.
The Counterspell ruleset will force the players to avoid the magic attack monsters completely, because they will suffer reflected damage back to themselves in relation of their dealt damage. 😜
My lineup
 | Ilthain is almost the best choice for this battle, because she gives +1 speed to all of his friendly monsters, but more importantly she gives the Return Fire ability to all of her monsters, which works the same way like the Counterspell ruleset, but instead of magic all the ranged attack will be reflected. 😉 |
| I used the Pelacor Conjurer as a temporary tank front of my team to give some time for my ranged attack monsters to deal as much damage as possible and also try to save my main tank to die too quickly. 😇 |  |
 | The Imperial Knight is an excellent tank for seven mana, because his stats are amazing. His high armor and health makes him to sustain a lot of incoming damage, because the chance for an enemy magic attack monster in the enemy team are very slim. 😁 |
| The Prismologist cost a lot of mana, because she has the Blast ability (not in this fight) and has a lot of ranged attack damage, which comes handy as a damage dealer for my battle. 😌 |  |
 | The Gargoya Devil is also a very good ranged attack damage dealer with his +3 damage and his weakness will be his weak health. Luckily I do not need to worry protecting him, because without any abilities none of the enemy monsters are able to attack him in my backline. 🤗 |
| The War Pegasus is another excellent damage dealer with +3 ranged attack damage and it is important to use them from my backline, because only the ranged attack monsters will be available to deal damage from afar. 😆 |  |
 | The Venary Crystalsmith is a low budget ranged attack monster costing only 4 mana. Sadly I can not use her Tank Heal ability, because of the Back to Basics ruleset, but her +2 ranged attack will be a great addition to my team. 😜 |
The Battle
Unfortunately my opponent had the same idea like me and tried to take advantage of Ilthain's Return Fire ability, so it will be interesting to see which lineup will be the best. 😅
My opponent brought Uriel as his main tank who is a solid choice if he has all of his abilites, because he would be able to heal himself in every round.
Even thought he is stronger than my main tank my idea to use the Pelacor Conjurer as an extension to protect my Imperial Knight seems to be working amazing.
I have lost my Conjurer in the first round, but that was his purpose and the result of that my opponent lost his Uriel while my main tank was still alive. 😁
In the second round my opponent lost two more of his monsters and the ranged reflect worked its way damaging all the monsters on the battlefield.
By the time I have lost my main tank only two of his monsters left with very low health, so my setup prooved to be more useful than his and we acquired the victory for us. 😌

My opponent used the same strategy like me, but my setup was way better and my main tank lasted much longer than his monstrous Uriel thanks to my Pelacor Conjurer. 😇
