The Power of Black Foil

Let’s say you open a pack and get lucky enough to get your hands on a Black Foil card. First of all, congrats! Because these Back Foil cards are max-level cards right out of the pack and don't need any more card merging or upgrading. Moreover, these Black Foil (BF) cards come with their own unique serial number, and cannot be combined with other cards.
Wow, a max level card right out of a pack? But wait, I haven’t even spoken about how powerful and rewarding they will be.

• These Black Foil cards will offer a flat 20% bonus when being used in ranked battles.
  Black Foil cards cool down twice as fast in Survival Mode.

• These BF cards deliver 5x the DEC burn value, Collection Power, and Conflict Contribution when compared to even Gold Foils.

• They will also have the same efficiency in Production Points when compared to the old-school Beta cards. In short, they will secure the top-tier across the game very soon.

Now, looking at the chances of getting them from packs, well, they will not be that easy to get, which is kind of expected. Here is how the odds break down.

• In Standard Packs, your chance is 1 in 4,000 cards, or 1 in every 800 packs

• In Alchemy Packs, it improves to 1 in 400 cards, or 1 in every 80 packs.

• In Legendary Packs, it’s 1 in 800, or 1 in every 160 packs.

• Starter Packs will not contain any Black Foil cards, so do not test your luck in there.

Now let me tell you a secret. A Black Foil Potion is being developed in the Splinterlands underground research centre, which can boost your odds even more on getting these Black Foil cards. Details are still under wraps and yet to be announced, but it is indeed coming, so be prepared.

Arcane Foil Cards

Now, let us take a peek at another one, the Arcane Foil, which is even more exclusive than the Black Foils. These are the ultra-rare, pre-minted versions of Gold and Black Foil cards, and just like Black Foil cards, they only come as max-level cards. Each one has its own unique mint number, and they can’t be combined. Basically, they are one-of-a-kind, ultra-limited trophy pieces and the supply is so limited that they are expected to go literally to the moon soon after launch.

Gold Foil Arcane Cards

• Common - 50 copies (per unique card)
• Rare - 25
• Epic - 10
• Legendary - 5

Black Foil Arcane Cards

• Common - 20 (per unique card)
• Rare - 10
• Epic - 5
• Legendary - only 1. (Yup, you read it right, just One in the entire game.)

These Arcane cards will be distributed randomly among all the eligible packs - Standard, Alchemy, and Legendary, with the pack weight affecting your odds of getting them.

• Standard - 1x
• Alchemy - 3x
• Legendary - 6x
• Starter - 0x

So, a Legendary Pack gives you the best chance out of these 3 types of packs. Anyway, each pack can contain only one Arcane card max, and if you are lucky enough to get your hands on one of them, the game will randomly pick it from the remaining supply.
