The Fallout from the Reset
One of the most disheartening aspects of the reset is how it drags players back to the lower levels, where the gameplay lacks depth and excitement. At higher levels, I had unlocked more powerful towers and spells, which made the strategy and challenge of Soulkeep engaging. The reset, however, forces me to replay early stages where progress feels slow, and the gameplay is, frankly, underwhelming.
What’s even worse is the lack of incentives to make this grind more bearable. In Splinterlands, players are rewarded with powerful cards that enhance gameplay and provide a sense of progression. In Soulkeep, there’s no equivalent system in place to soften the blow of starting over. Instead, I’m left struggling to remember how to navigate these early levels, which feels more like a chore than an opportunity to rekindle my interest.
A Poor Player Experience
Beyond the frustration of losing progress, the reset has highlighted broader issues with Soulkeep’s player experience. The lack of foresight in implementing such a drastic change without meaningful rewards or improvements leaves me questioning the development team’s direction. It feels as though the reset was a move made without considering how it would impact long-term players who have already invested significant time and effort into the game.
Even worse, the value of the assets tied to Soulkeep has not held up, which diminishes the appeal of sticking around or trying to pivot within the broader ecosystem. As someone who initially believed in the game’s potential, this ongoing disappointment is difficult to ignore.
Considering the Future
At this point, I’m seriously contemplating whether to continue with Soulkeep at all. The reset not only erased my progress but also drained much of the enjoyment I once found in the game. While I hope for meaningful changes or updates that could restore my enthusiasm, my expectations are tempered by the track record so far.
The potential is still there for Soulkeep to turn things around, but it will take a concerted effort from the development team to address the issues that have alienated players like me. Whether that involves introducing better rewards, improving the gameplay experience at lower levels, or creating a clearer roadmap for the game’s future, something has to change.
For now, my return to Soulkeep has been an eye-opening reminder of how quickly a game’s appeal can unravel. Here’s hoping that the next chapter of Soulkeep’s story is one of redemption—because right now, it’s hard to see a reason to keep playing.

While I agree that it's very frustrating for player who didn't abuse in any way, I believe the reset was necessary.
I think the problem is that it's much harder and slower to advance from the lower leagues in SoulKeep than it used to be in Splinterlands when there were level caps in the leagues. And while in Splinterlands there was no issue with having a max card vs. a bunch of lower level ones, in SK it's actually a disadvantage because the lower level ones have the same effect and each copy can be played the same number of times.
I believe SK is also more punishing to take away time from the game. In Splinterlands if you do you just don't earn glint and SPS. Maybe drop lower of you played a few games that season. If you didn't play, you stay where you were. In SK everyone else is advancing but you on your break.
Still think it was awful and they have now lost a player on my side. Going to rent all my cards out instead...
But I find it hard to rent out cards. I have the max level legendary heart card and the bids on it are very low.
