While ranked has been a good way to accumulate over time via the win rewards and focus chests, it feel that tournaments have the best risk/reward ratio to accumulate. I find that I can mostly participate and at least breakeven in tournaments at Gold League and above. While competition has continually become more difficult, I have found that playing as often as I have been is getting me more acquainted with the meta.
In addition, these Alpha Tournaments are my sweet spot given my Collection and the scarcity of those cards in circulation. They are also well compensated as promised by the team years ago. Over the last couple of months, I have had a mix of results but I have slowly been finding myself more consistently in the 2nd day and placing higher. After a couple of Top 10 appearances, I recently found myself at the Top! That probably marks the first time in 2-3 years I have won a tournament. I think it is my very first anytime tournament which I never thought I could achieve.
The development and evolution of the ecosystem continues to encourage me about the future. While I often find myself wondering how to optimize, it is experiences like this that remind me to enjoy the journey instead of focusing on the destination. Despite the great placement, I still know there is room to improve. Given my Collection, I can continue to look on strategies to place better across more tournaments. It will be the key to achieving that SPS target for sure!
