Introduction

In the mystical land of Praetoria, Castles and Keeps are rare, ancient structures that hold great magical power and serve as central hubs of influence. They offer unique benefits, particularly around resource management, taxation, and the discovery of rare Totem Fragments. These structures become available during the land surveying phase and require careful management to harness their full potential.

Distribution and Role of Castles and Keeps - Castle and Keep Distribution: - Each Region (comprising 1,000 plots) contains one Castle and nine Keeps.

Each Tract (a section of 100 contiguous plots) will have either one Castle or one Keep.

Functionality: Castles and Keeps differ from regular land plots. They are designed to maintain magical connections across Praetoria, and although they still need worker cards, power sources, and dark energy for staking, their primary function is distinct resource collection and territory management through tax collection.

Tax Collection in Castles and Keeps During Land Phase 1.5, resource-producing plots are subject to a 10% tax that supports Castle and Keep owners: 1. Castle Taxes: Castles collect 20% of the total taxes generated in their entire region (1,000 plots).

However, Castles have a significant maintenance cost, with each harvest requiring 10,000 grain.

Keep Taxes: - Keeps collect 50% of the taxes within their respective tracts (100 plots).

The upkeep for Keeps is lower, with each harvest costing 1,000 grain.

Note: Any unclaimed resources collected in taxes are burned, ensuring a streamlined economy within Praetoria.

Totem Fragment Discovery Both Castles and Keeps have the unique ability to uncover Totem Fragments, which are valuable assets in Praetoria: Castle Totem Discovery: Castles have a 10x increased chance of uncovering Totem Fragments.

When discovered, these fragments are three times more likely to be of Legendary, Epic, or Rare quality.

Keep Totem Discovery: Keeps have a 3x increased chance of finding Totem Fragments.

There's a 1.5x chance that these fragments will have higher rarity levels (Legendary, Epic, or Rare).

Summary Castles and Keeps offer players in Praetoria a strategic advantage through tax collection, Totem Fragment discovery, and resource management. With their potential for higher value discoveries and significant resource yield, they're coveted assets. Proper management including staking, tax handling, and maintaining grain supplies is essential for optimizing these structures, making them powerful tools for those aiming to dominate Praetoria.
