Riftwatchers Pre-Sale - I Got An Epic Card!

As most of you would know, the Riftwatchers Pre-Sale Event was on 15 Sep 2022 and the first 500,000 packs were sold within 1 minute and 39 seconds!

Even though it was 2am over here in Singapore, I thought why not join the fun as well and try my luck at the promo and airdrop cards! Previously, I bought 1 Chaos Legion pack during the General Sale, so this time, I decided to buy 2 Riftwatcher packs!

I didn't want to buy too many packs because I didn't have faith in my luck when it comes to opening of packs. In any case, one can always buy individual cards off the market and you can choose which specific cards that would be useful for your lineup, instead of relying on the randomness in the opening of packs. I also had another issue, because the pack had to be paid with USD 5 worth of SPS (and 1 VOUCHER), I didn't have much liquid SPS because most of my SPS was staked and unstaking them would took some time, so it posed a constraint as well.

When I saw the packs were available for purchase at 2am, I took my time to make my purchase and I purchased my 2 packs for around 120 SPS at 48 seconds after 2am.

The entire process was smooth and I didn't encounter any issues at all, even though there were so much hoo-ha post the pre-sale event and it even required voting of proposals. Oh well. Funnily, I was half-awake at that time, so after buying I just went to sleep and it was only in the morning then I realised how fast the packs were swept off the shelves. Had I dilly-dallied one more minute, I wouldn't have made it to the first 500,000 packs. Anyway, with just 2 packs, it's unlikely I would get the promo cards (2% chance per pack) so it's mainly for the excitement and element of surprise. (By the way, I haven't gotten any airdrop for Chaos Legion so far!)

So yesterday, the Riftwatcher cards were launched, and I thought I should continue with my usual habit of opening one pack to see what I would get. And here we go!

I heaved a sigh of relief when I saw the Epic card! Hahaha. It would have been disappointing if it turned out to be the minimum 1 Rare 4 Common cards combination. Unfortunately, I had the required potions but didn't get any Gold Foil or Legendary cards. The next thing that came to my mind was: How much are these cards worth?

Thanks to @peak-monsters, they have nicely done up a page where you can analyse or obtain a summary of your pack openings. It can be found under "Analyze Packs".

Looking at the information in the table, I guess I was lucky that the Epic Summoner saved the value from the pack. Still, even a total of USD 4.94 fell short of the value of USD 5 + 1 VOUCHER, which would have been around USD 6. So I guess maybe a better strategy would be to buy Riftwatchers packs and cards off the market.

No hard feelings of course, since it's all in the name of fun and lucky draws were always about luck! But hopefully, I will get a bit more luck in the airdrops!
