Surviving the Sneak Attack: My Thrilling Battle with Elias Max Pruitt

in Splinterlandsyesterday (edited)

Hello, Splinterlands Warriors!. How’s it going, conquerors of the arena? Today, I want to share an exhilarating and adrenaline-filled experience from the Splinterlands battlefield. This time, the battle featured the Holy Protection and Super Sneak rulesets. This combination truly tested strategic thinking: every monster received a divine shield for extra protection, and melee attacks could be unleashed from any position.

I chose QUIX THE DEVIOUS as my main summoner. With its ability to reduce ranged attack and speed, QUIX provided an edge by slowing enemy movements and weakening their ranged damage. However, my opponent wasn’t messing around. They used ELIAS MAX PRUITT, a summoner that grants +1 melee, +1 armor, along with Armored Strike and Piercing. A dangerous opponent, especially in the Super Sneak ruleset, where melee attacks dominate.

My Team Formation

To face this situation, I built a team combining solid defense with deadly offense:

  1. DJINN CHWALA (Frontline): A tough monster with Thorns and Enrage, perfect for a melee-heavy ruleset.
  2. HARKLAW (Second position): Equipped with Shield, Immunity, and Demoralize, HARKLAW weakened enemy melee attacks while resisting poison.
  3. USUT (Third position): A monster with Flying and Bloodlust, ready to strike and grow stronger with every fallen foe.
  4. CHAOS DRAGON (Fourth position): Using Flying, Blast, and Scattershot, it disrupted the enemy’s formation.
  5. DESERT DRAGON (Fifth position): The star of the battle, boasting Retaliate, Piercing, and Trample to clear the battlefield.
  6. CURSED WINDEKU (Backline): A thorny monster with Thorns and Heal, stationed to guard the rear while capitalizing on the Super Sneak ruleset.

Opponent’s Formation

My opponent’s team was equally formidable:

  • WAVE BROOD as the Taunt tank, absorbing attacks.
  • COASTAL SENTRY and DRYBONE RAIDER, both with Double Strike, for devastating consecutive attacks.
  • DISINTEGRATOR to weaken my melee attacks.
  • ANASTH SOOTHSAYER as the primary healer.
  • DIEMONSHARK, a monster with Trample, positioned at the back to leverage Super Sneak.

The Battle Begins

Round 1:

The battle opened with CHAOS DRAGON delivering a Scattershot strike to COASTAL SENTRY, but most attacks focused on WAVE BROOD due to its Taunt ability. Unfortunately, CURSED WINDEKU was targeted and eliminated early, leaving me slightly on edge.

Round 2:

Momentum began to shift. DESERT DRAGON dodged two enemy attacks thanks to some luck and skill. It counterattacked with Trample, taking down WAVE BROOD and COASTAL SENTRY in one turn. This miraculous move boosted my confidence.

Round 3:

The enemy’s frontline started to crumble. CHAOS DRAGON unleashed a Blast attack, damaging DRYBONE RAIDER and disrupting their formation. Meanwhile, DESERT DRAGON continued its rampage, using Retaliate to defeat both DIEMONSHARK and DISINTEGRATOR in a single turn. At this point, victory felt imminent. ANASTH SOOTHSAYER tried its best to heal but eventually fell under DESERT DRAGON’s bombardment.

Round 4:

In the final round, DRYBONE RAIDER couldn’t withstand the relentless attacks from my team. The victory was sweet, especially since I had maximized DESERT DRAGON’s potential.

Strategy and Lessons

The key to winning this battle was utilizing monsters with Retaliate and Thorns to punish every melee attack from the opponent. DESERT DRAGON was the MVP, using Trample to destroy the enemy’s formation. Additionally, CHAOS DRAGON’s Scattershot and Blast attacks helped disrupt the backline, giving me a significant edge.

Losing CURSED WINDEKU early reminded me that no strategy is perfect, but having DJINN CHWALA and HARKLAW as defensive anchors secured my team’s formation.

What about you? Have you ever used DESERT DRAGON or other monsters with Retaliate in the Super Sneak ruleset? What strategies do you typically use? Share your stories and experiences in the comments! I always enjoy reading unique strategies from the Splinterlands community. See you on the battlefield, and may your battle rewards be filled with epic surprises! ✨
