Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

By the time I published this post, a new season has finally started so for this week's Community Engagement Challenge, I'm going to write a support article to share my ideas on how to best utilize Glint as we use it to buy stuff on Gwen's Glint shop regardless of the amount of glint you earn each season. But first, let me talk about Glint and how you can earn it.

  • What is Glint?

First introduced on April 2nd of this year, Glint is a type of Non- transferable, Non- tradeable in- game token that can be obtained from wining ranked battles as a replacement for Rshares. While it cannot be traded, Glint can be used to purchase different types of items on Gwen's Glint Shop such as energy and cards. There is no expiration on Glint so players can choose to spend it right away on small purchases or save it for one big purchase, allowing players for a more flexible options on choosing their rewards.

  • How To Earn Glint?

The most direct way to earn Glint is through winning from Ranked Battles and the amount of Glint that can be earned each battle mainly defends on the amount of Staked SPS the player have as well as the league where they were competing. This means that the bigger the staked SPS and the higher the league, the higher the Glint can be earned which will be immediately added on the players' Glint balance as soon as the battle ends.

Modern Format SPS Staking Requirements.

That said, there are also other factors that could affect Glint Earnings such as:

  • Battle Format - Wild Format requires 2x SPS staked to have the same Glint on Modern Format.
  • Win streak - Takes effect after the 3rd consecutive win and can increase Glint boost up to 45%.
  • Gold Foil Card - Each gold foil card gives 10% Glint boost per win.
  • Promo Card - Each promo card gives 10% Glint boost per win.
  • Alpha/Beta Cards - Only applicable in wild, Alpha card gives 10% boost while Beta comes with 5% boost.
  • Guild Bonus - Depends on the level of the Guild Lodge.
  • Prefix Title - Titles that were given on land owners that increases Glint bonus.
  • Ghost/Starter Cards- Using Starter cards can lead to a reduction of Glint earnings so better avoid using them.

At the same time, an equal amount of Glint that a player has earned through though the season will also be given as an end of season loot.

Another means of which we can obtain glint is through burning any of our excess Soulbound Rewards that gives Glint equals to 3x of the cards collection power like a gold foil Berix Snakeye can be burned for 62,500 glint.

A player can then track his Glint balance in the Glint Rewards as well as their season end loot which can be seen on the Ranked battle page. As the season has just started and I have not win or played any battles yet, my season end loot was still in 0.

A Tour On Gwen's Glint Shop

image.png

Now that we have all this Glint to spend, we can now go on Gwen's Glint Shop and there are 2 easy ways to go to it either by navigating Rewards on the Shop Menu or by simply clicking on the shop button on the Glint rewards which emmidiately shows us with a variety of exiting items which includes:

  • Rarity Draws

image.png

This were items that gives a guaranteed copy of a random reward card based on what type of draws were purchased. There are four types of draws that can be chosen starting from Common, Rare, Epic and Legendary with higher the rarity comes higher the Glint cost and the fewer items that can be purchased for each batch. Each draws also have 2% chance to give gold foil card:

Note:
Alchemy potions may be used when purchasing any type of rarity draws in order to double their gold foil chance.
  • Loot Chest

Next item on the Glint Shop were the loot chest which can contain either cards, potions, energy, merits and even Jackpot Price on different chances defending on the type of chest that is purchased. Currently, there are three types of Chest which a player may get the following.

Chest TypeQuantityGlint CostCardPotionsMeritsEnergyJackpot
Minor30020033%31.99%30%5%0.01%
Major150100033%30.90%26%10%0.10%
Ultimate30450033%26.00%20%20%1.00%

While each chest gives the same chance of getting reward cards, we can only get 1 bcx of a card for each minor chest but we can get multiple bcx of cards when purchasing either Major of Ultimate chest. Meanwhile, Jackpot Price may include Legendary cards as well as Beta packs, Land Plots and Titles which are items with monetary value.

Note:
Alchemy potions may be used when purchasing any type of loot chest in order to double their gold foil chance as well as Legendary potions to double the drop rate of legendary cards. This only applies on chest with cards inside and not on chest that contains energy or merits.
  • Exclusives

image.png

Consist of different titles with different rarities. This is more aimed at players that earns high amount of Glint and those that owned land plots as they increase the production of the land.

They can also serve for a cool bragging rights whenever we go to battle. 😉

  • Resources

image.png

This were consumable items for our different needs in the game. Merit is used to purchase Gladius packs, Energy is used to play ranked battles while Legendary and Alchemy potions are used to double the chance of having Legendary and Gold Foil card. With the exception of merits, the rest of the items can also be purchased through DEC, DEC-B and Credits.

Note:
The Glint cost for purchasing energy varies depending on the league the player is playing due to the fact that high ranking players can earn more glint from their battles but as it is a better alternative for those that does not have DEC to buy energy.
Note:
Another thing to remember is that once you purchased a batch of an item whether it was rarity draws or chest, every succeeding batch next to it will have 50% increase in price that will reset every season.

Where To Use Glint

Splinterlands has different types of players, playing in different leagues with different types of goals. Because of that, there are multiple ways to spend Glint based of their needs and I will try to strategize based on those individual needs.

  • Chasing for more Battles

This players are chasing for more battles either because they are competing for leaderboard, wants to earn more SPS or a combination of both and because of that, rather than cards, what they want to use their Glint is to buy Energy but after purchasing 25 energy, the base price will increase by 50% so it might not be worth it anymore to purchase them. In that case, purchasing the first batch of Major Chest may be the best move to get more energy due to the amount of chest they can bought per batch. Just make sure to drain all your energy first before you buy major chest as the energy bar will not regenerate energy once they are full.

  • Chasing for OP Cards

It's an undeniable fact that the Epic rewards are the most powerful cards within the Rebellion rewards due to the new abilities they have so some players would rather prioritize on this cards to get an edge on their battle and the easiest way to obtain them is by purchasing Epic Draws.

  • Low League Players

Earning Lesser amount of Glint, low league players may first want to level their commons and rares through Common and Rarity draws to give them more card options in ranked. They may also try to go with some major chest if they have extra Glint rather than going with another batch of rarity draws.

  • Card Collectors

For card collectors using Glint on the first batch of every rarity draw is the fastest way to complete their card collection though that could be really expensive but going only on batch 1 can still take at least a year to complete so if you have spare Glint to spend, you might as well try to go for Major chest as well as the second batch of Common and Rare rarity Draws.
