Rebellion is Splinterlands' 5th Core Edition Set. It was released last December 2023 but I haven't owned any of its cards yet. This is in stark contrast of when Chaos Legion (4th edition) first came out in 2022 wherein I bought around 293 packs to which I still hold today with lower value.
To compare, Untamed (3rd Edition) pack release was around 1.5M. Chaos Legion release was 10x larger with 15M amidst the Axie/NFT gaming fever during that year. On hindsight, Splinterlands overestimated the demand; hence, we're left with a lot of supply. For Rebellion, they are releasing up to 9.5M packs but with a burning mechanism making sure that supplies only last for a year. (Any tool that tracks its supply?)
I still did buy 13 Rebellion packs to stake for the 'Conflict', which is their new airdrop system to encourage players to hold more onto their NFTs via staking. 2 Conflicts have already passed without anly luck. However, with the 3rd Conflict, I got lucky.
Being freshly released, this is now selling at the marketplace around $27 which is already 60% of my cost in terms of the Rebellion packs I've bought for staking. Not bad, especially since there are 6 more Conflicts in the coming months!
Even just for level 1, this card can be useful since it's a neutral legendary good for melee strategy. Though I know prices would eventually go down, I decide not to sell immediately since there is still utility in terms of its card ability and providing additional 500 pts to increase my chances for the next airdrop. This being my first and only Rebellion card!
Probability of getting this airdrop with my 13 pack stake was only 9 out of 300 (3%). Happy to be lucky. I hope I can still get more airdrops in the upcoming conflicts!
You are one lucky dude, the stats of that card is Kinda Op and add the fact that it's a neutral unit.
haha I tried buring 20 vouchers hoping to increase chances of gold foil to 4%. Though it's just a regular foil, definitely a lucky strike still. :)
