Fun Tier Five Brawl Battle: Chaos Legion vs Untamed and Beta

in Splinterlands3 days ago

Introduction

Today I would like to share a fun tier five Brawl battle I had in our last brawl in YGG Legion. This battle features my Chaos Legion set cards vs Untamed and Beta sets of my opponent.

When I saw their lineup I was kind of thinking OH DANG! They have Magnor, Cornealus, Fineas Rage, Elemental Phoenix - these were all meta cards in the old days and all maxed out, while I have one non maxed out card in my lineup. So let's see how these sets do against each other!

My Strategy

My strategy for this battle is two-fold: Hit Them Fast and Hit Them Hard!

My main bet is obviously on the speed, if you are not fast enough it doesn't help that you can hit hard, you will keep missing. So I chose a summoner that boosts the speed by two points and I chose all fast monsters with the lowest base speed on Lava Launcher or three. But I am also boosting everyone with two speed boosting monsters: Supply Runner and Countess Sinash. Because we have an enraged ruleset in effect I am also counting on my monsters becoming even faster once they are enraged.

The hit them hard part of my strategy is manifested in the fact that most of my monsters have a base damage of for or five with the exception of the Supply Runner that has a base damage of three only. Once they get enraged they hit even harder and faster.

And finally to counteract the hard hitters on my opponent side I chose Arkemis the Bear as my tank since he has a force shield.

Looking at the lineups it is apparent that my bet on speed might not work out too well as they have some very fast monsters on their team and Plado Emberstorm is boosting all of their monster's speed by one point as well. Cornealus might also pose a threat to my ranged and melee monsters.

Round one started in the least re-assuring fashion with my fastest nine speed monster Supply Runner missing his shot against their Elemental Phoenix! Phoenix is just a six speed monster, but it has Flying and Dodge abilities which increase the chance of a miss by twenty five percent each!

Thankfully the rest of my monsters didn't miss and our Arkemis the Bear took some really big shots and held out for the round two. We were able to take out their Magnor which would have been a big threat to our team if not for the Arkemis the Bear with his Force Shield ability. That is why I like playing the Bear in front in high mana battles.

Round two turned out to be a really big round. We lost two of our big hitters the Arkemis the Bear and Lava Launcher. Before dying both of the big hitters scored their hits against their Fineas Rage taking it down.

Their Efreet Elder took out our Bear and their Elemental Phoenix took out our Lava Launcher and damaged with his splash damage our Tenuii Striker. Tenuii Striker with his enraged melee of eight took out their Cornelius with a single strike. And then took out their Ettin Spearman with a backfire.

Elemental Phoenix really gave us trouble though causing our monsters two misses and taking out our Tenuii Striker!

Let's hope for a better luck in round four!

Round Four starts with a slight numerical advantage for our team, but we have two ranged monsters and very low health for the two of our front monsters and most concerning is the fact that our team keeps missing shots on the elemental phoenix!

At least our enraged Fina Voxom and Countess Sinash will go first and hopefully their ridiculous speed of twelve will be enough to strike the elemental phoenix!

Since Elemental Phoenix has six health Countess Sinash will not be able to take it out with her four ranged damage, so the outcome of this battle depends on a single strike from the Fina Voxom! If she hits, we are likely to win and if she misses they will most likely win.

And with a beautiful one - two punch Countess Sinash takes out Efret Elder and Fina Voxom takes out their Elemental Phoenix! And just like that we take an important win for the YGG Legion in a tier five brawl!
