Today I am looking at the new voucher card: Tasoshi Drakamoto. In my analysis I am going to take a look at the card and review it's abilities at every level as well as as see what this free card costs in terms of DEC.
Card Abilities By Level
This is an Epic rarity card that looks really strong at max level, but what does it take to get a max level copy of this card using only vouchers?
Well I have had around half a million SPS staked for a while and have not spent any of my vouchers since the last voucher card purchase on September 4th 2024.
Given the fact that I have been accumulating vouchers for over nine months, do I have enough to buy one maxed out voucher card?
Not even close! I have accumulated 4,146 vouchers and I would need at least 46 cards to get a max level card and that is if I don't get lucky and get a gold foil card. In order to purchase 46 cards you need 11,500 vouchers!
So what can I get?
If we look at the abilities of this card we see that it is awesome at max level with Spite, Stun, Inspire and Sneak abilities
At level one it is a good card as it has two magic damage and can be used to kill off the glass cannons that people tend to put in the back or the traditional anti-sneak cards with high armor and very little health like Clockwork Aide or Dumacke Orc.
At level two this card gets a bump in speed from three speed to four speed, that is nice, but not a big upgrade.
The more significant upgrade comes at level three where this card gets it's second ability: Inspire. I could spend 2,500 vouchers and get this card to level 3.
At level four the card gets one more magic damage and goes from two magic damage to three magic damage. That is a big deal, but unfortunately I don't have enough vouchers to get this card to level four. That would require 5,000 vouchers and I am 854 vouchers short. I could get those vouchers from my second account, so this is a possibility to consider.
Level five is nice, but that is another twelve cards for the total of 8,000 vouchers and I just don't have that much vouchers even between both of my accounts. At this level Tasoshi gains it's stun ability.
And finally at level six Tasoshi gains one more health and the Spite ability. This is nice but 11,500 vouchers would take a very long time to accumulate.
Opportunity Cost
If I was able to get a maximum Tasoshi card I might have gone for it no questions asked, but since I am only able to get a level 3 or maybe level 4 of the card I think it makes sense to see what I could get instead of getting this card.
Level Three of this card costs around $60 as you can see from the image above. I can stake sixty five thousand DEC on land and raise the level of my staked to land monsters. Or I can pay for 32 Wild Passes or almost a year and a half of playing in Wild. I can also spend this and upgrade some other less costly cards in my deck.
Level four of this card is basically $119 worth of DEC. For this kind of DEC I could get almost 15,000 SPS:
When it comes to Splinterlands I am an SPS Maxi, I believe that SPS is the most important asset in the game. Would this card make a huge difference to my SPS winnings? Would it make me a Champion One league player? I highly doubt that!
If I were a gambler I would have tried to get a black foil of this card. I could spend sixty dollars worth of vouchers and get a level three version of Tasoshi and buy 10 Midnight Potions to try to get a black foil. There is also possibility of gold foil as well.
While it is really appealing to try to gamble, based on my past luck I just don't believe it is worth the gamble. I have decided to swap all of my vouchers for SPS as SPS has a great utility of increasing my earnings in the game as well as staked SPS rewards as well as increasing chances for my SPS Validator to be picked for block validation.
This might not be the most popular take, but for me there is more value in SPS than in a level three or level four of Tasoshi Drakamoto. Which is I guess a world play of a Dragon card of Satoshi Nakamoto 🤣

Since vouchers aren't as easily moved as they used to be, I have been thinking about using some for a card like this. I haven't pulled the trigger yet.
You can easily switch them in game for DEC and DEC can be moved to hive-engine and there You can swap for what you want.
Wise decision I think, this is yet another voucher promo card that's only interesting for the whales since at these prices, the lower level player can do better things with the money, indeed like buying SPS 🤩
Well, if I was competing for the Modern Leaderboard, this card would have made sense to invest into, but I just don't have the budget right now for that. By itself it is not going to do much for me. It will probably be a cool collectable card though...
