Today, I am thrilled to share with you a strategic masterpiece tailored specifically for the Briar Patch ruleset, focusing on countering the formidable presence of Immortalis. In a meta saturated with ranged attackers and magic-heavy lineups, my tactical approach revolves around a carefully curated team and the astute deployment of synergistic abilities.

Using Briar Patch ruleset to win a Champion level battle!

We have three rulesets in effect: Are you not entertained, Tis but scratches and Briar Patch:

RULESET: Briar Patch

Description:

All units receive the Thorns ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that use melee attacks receive damage back.

Damage returned is equal to damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up.
Melee attack units with the Reflection Shield ability do not take damage from thorns.
The Amplify ability increases damage.

The Strategy

At the heart of my counter strategy is the legendary summoner, Quix the Devious, from the Chaos Legion core set. In the Briar Patch arena, where ranged attackers often reign supreme, Quix's ability to nerf both opponent speed and ranged damage proves to be a game-changer. This summoner's influence significantly increases the likelihood of misses from magic and ranged attackers, setting the stage for a strategic advantage.

For the frontline, I've enlisted the services of Void Dragon, a stellar tank with flying, void, and phase abilities. Teamed up with Quix the Devious, this swift tank becomes a force to be reckoned with, avoiding the onslaught of magic attackers and creating an elusive frontline that disrupts the opponent's plans. The absence of Water splinter ensures a reduced threat from melee attackers, allowing Void Dragon to showcase its prowess.

Supporting this dynamic duo is Queen Mycelia, a versatile monster boasting Protect, Rust, Triage, and Amplify abilities. Rust, in particular, becomes a crucial tool in stripping away armor from enemy units, ensuring that our ranged damage dealers can inflict maximum harm.

Goblin Psychic, a common Chaos Legion core set monster, joins the lineup with Tank Heal, Affliction, Silence, and Dispel abilities. Priced at a mere six mana, this versatile monster serves as a vital support unit, keeping our tank resilient with Tank Heal and disrupting the plans of magic and ranged attackers through Silence and Affliction.

Gargoya Devil, a rare Chaos rewards monster, steps into the fray as one of our primary damage dealers. With the Close Range ability, Gargoya Devil can unleash its four ranged damage from the first position, providing a crucial advantage against Immortalis summoners and their reliance on ranged and magic attackers.

Venari Seedsmith, another Chaos rewards monster, adds to our offensive arsenal with four ranged damage, a poison ability, and Scavenger, ensuring sustained health growth. This rare rarity monster evolves into a valuable meat shield, fortifying our formation and enhancing our resilience against enemy assaults.

Last but certainly not least, Supply Runner takes the final spot in our lineup. With three ranged damage, Strengthen, and Swiftness abilities, this dynamic monster contributes not only to our offensive capabilities but also bolsters the health and speed of the entire team. The strategic importance of Supply Runner lies in its ability to set the pace, ensuring our attackers strike first and increasing the overall survivability of our lineup.

In conclusion, my Briar Patch Immortalis counter strategy is a symphony of carefully chosen monsters, orchestrated to perfection under the guidance of Quix the Devious. With a focus on disrupting opponent speed and ranged damage, coupled with a resilient tank and strategic support, this lineup aims to outmaneuver and overpower Immortalis-led teams on the Splinterlands battlefield. May your battles in the Briar Patch be filled with strategic triumphs and tactical brilliance!

The Summoner

Quix the Devious is legendary rarity summoner from the Chaos Legion core set. This summoner is great to use in the Briar Patch ruleset because there is a high likelihood of ranged attackers to be used and nerfing speed always helps unless it is a reverse speed ruleset.

1st Slot - Fast Anti-Magic Tank Monster

Void Dragon is a great tank to use for the Briar Patch ruleset. This is a very fast tank with flying and void and phase abilities, combined with the Quix the Devious summoner it is a perfect combination. The summoner increases the likelihood of misses of both magic and ranged attackers as well as melee attackers, however I don't expect too many melee attackers in the Briar Patch ruleset particularly because Water splinter isn't available and so we don't have to worry about Tide Biter with his reflection shield and life isn't available either so we don't have to worry about the Riftwatchers reach monster with his reflection shield either.

2nd Slot - Support Monster

Queen Mycelia is a great support monster due to her abilities: She has Protect, Rust, Triage and Amplify abilities. Rust is particularly useful to remove armor for our ranged damage dealers.

3rd Slot - Magic Silencing Healer Monster

Goblin Psychic is another member of the Chaos Legion core set. It is common rarity monster with two magic attack, base speed of one, seven health and Tank Heal, Affliction, Silence and Dispel abilities. All of this for only six mana! Tank heal is particularly important to make sure that our tank lasts as long as possible and affliction is important to make sure enemy monsters cannot be healed. Silence is critical as we are likely to see magic and ranged attackers in the Briar Patch ruleset.

4th Slot - Range Damage Dealer Monster

Gargoya Devil is a rare Chaos rewards monster. This is one of our primary damage dealers. It is also important due to his Close Range ability. I expect Immortalis as a summoner on the other side, so my primary damage dealers are all range attackers. Gargoya Devil is important because he can attack from the first position and has four ranged damage.

5th Slot - Range Damage Dealer Monster

Venari Seedsmith is another reward monster. This rare rarity monster comes with a four ranged damage, has poison ability and Scavenger ability so his health can increase by the time his turn comes and he can become a nice meat shield for our last ranged damage dealer Supply Runner.

6th Slot - Range Damage Dealer Monster

Supply Runner is our the last monster in our line up. It is the last but not least, this monster is important because in addition to three ranged damage it comes with two important abilities: Strengthen that gives all friendly monsters one extra health and Swiftness ability that gives all friendly monsters one extra speed. Speed is important because our attackers can strike first and the likelihood of misses is reduced.

THE BATTLE

Our opponent also went with the green team. As expected he picked Immortalis as his summoner, it is a good thing that we went with ranged damage strategy. He has a beefy tank and a beefy taunt monster. He also brought double triage and tank heal, so our affliction will be very important.

image.png

In the first round we were able to land affliction on their taunt monster, that is important as double triage is really hard to get through...
image.png

Second round was also pretty good for us. We were able to take out their taunt monster and landed another really important affliction this time on their front tank. They missed every single shot against our flying phase tank, that was perfect!
image.png

In round three we were able to take out their tank, unfortunately their Doctor Blight was able to land poison on our tank, the rest of their attackers have missed.
image.png

And in round four we went on the killing spree taking out two of their monster without loosing any of ours. Our tank healer was able to heal our front tank, so it survives to go into round five despite poison and getting hit again.

In round five we took down the enemy team without letting them fire a single shot:

This is a nice win with 5+ SPS as our bonus:
