Survival Prep: TANKS very much! (Fire edition ️‍πŸ”₯)

in Splinterlands β€’ 3 days ago (edited)

#SURVIVAL preppers! Here's my next question for you: "Do you have enough tanks to survive Season 1 of Survival?" My guess? Probably not. Because you know what tanks do a lot? Take damage and die. Especially in #SPLINTERLANDS. Unless you score a "Perfect!" win, then even the "winning" team usually loses the front-line, 1st-position tank. How many backups do you have? How many revival potions can you use? Don't know yet? Don't stress. I got you covered...

Tanks very much fire edition copy.jpg

Welcome to your next installment of Survival prep called TANKS very much! We'll scour the market for the best, most-undervalued Survival tanks. Do you have enough to survive? Probably not. Not yet... at least.

This next installment of the Survival prep series is my most ambitious yet. Over the next week, I'll drop seven separate, high-quality installments of the "TANKS very much!" series. About what? About tanks of course. More specifically though, it will be about the most-undervalued Survival tanks on the market right now. Starting today with the Fire edition ️‍πŸ”₯ After that I'll drop a new installment each day (Water, Earth, Death, Life, Dragon, and Neutral). Personally, I've never tried to publish seven quality posts, seven days in a row. Maybe for other people that's easy. For me it's not. Wish me luck!

Read this article... if you want to survive

If this all sounds like too much thinking and too many questions, especially for a game that hasn't even come out yet, no worries. Here's what you do. You basically have two options. First, DON'T play Season 1 of Survival. It's the easiest option. Take a comfy chair on the sidelines. Sit back and see what it's like -or- Second, DO play Season 1 of Survival, unprepared. Just wing it and see what it's like. Then the rest of us who did prepare, can kill your ENTIRE collection πŸ’€ Real quick too!

prepared copy.jpg

In Season 1 of Survival, there will be a big difference between the prepared and the unprepared. It will probably look something like this. I wonder if that last 1BCX tank will hold the line?

If that sounds harsh, I'm sorry πŸ™ Try to reframe your perspective though. Think of it more like... friendly, yet brutal advice. Advice that might save your (meta/magical) life! Remember, I've got a self-imposed 2 week ban on buying/selling any of the cards highlighted in these Survival prep posts. And again, I already have WAY too many copies of all the cards we're going to talk about anyway. I'm not going to be needing anymore anytime soon, nor will I be selling them anytime soon.

What I am going to do is set them loose in Survival. Check my collection. Check the blockchain. In other words folks, none of this is being done in self-interest. I'm just here, trying to help you survive. At least in the magical, blockchain, SPL metaverse-sense of the word. Like remember in Terminator 2 when Arnold told younger John Connor "come with me, if you want to live." Of course you do. Well, I'm kind of like saying the same thing here basically... πŸ’ͺ Read this article, if you want to survive Season 1 of Survival.

Come-with-me-gif2.gif

Everyone remembers that moment in Terminator 2 when Arnold told young John Connor... "come with me if you want to live." Ohhh! What?! He didn't just say that! Yes he just did. We all thought he was gonna kill 'lil John right there. Srsly, it's easy to forget (now that you know) but go back to when you FIRST saw that movie 😱 you never saw it coming. No one did. Epic twist.

You just want to help? K, now tell us the truth...

That's it? I just want to help? Yeah right. Come on, everyone has a self-serving motive for well, basically everything they do! Unless you're a really, really good Buddhist. Okay, I also have a couple of other "self-serving" reasons for trying to drop seven posts in seven days, but they're nothing nefarious:

(1) I really like the writing these days, more and more. Like, just going through the "writing process" is becoming really fun for me. Almost like training, and the same feeling I get after exercising? Idk. I attribute a lot of that to PEAKD posts. What can I say? Among my many facets, one of them is def being a fan of books, writing, reading, cartoons, fantasy, sci-fi and crypto. In that case, what could be better to write about than all this stuff, on the blockchain, while being incentivized to post high-quality content with crypto tokens? What could be a better use of my time? 😍 Nothing.

(2) I really like the way my art and its style has progressed lately. I enjoy doing the SPL alt card art. In general, I'm still using Adobe Photoshop Firefly AI. I have a pretty unique process. I don't give it any images to start with. I start from a blank white canvas every time. It results in (I think) pretty consistent, high-quality stuff. Stuff like that I don't necessarily see other people in the community achieving with AI art. At least not yet. The exception on #PEAKD being @bravetofu who has been doing some amazing stuff with AI art.

Interesting, he recently explained his workflow in detail. I will say, it's kinda crazy, but it's very different than mine! There's literally zero overlap. I didn't expect that. I don't use any of these same programs, any of the same tools, or any of the same methods. It's really actually amazing how our two approaches do not overlap, despite both taking LOTS of time and EFFORT to get the images and style right (ie, it's def NOT just pushing a button) and both of us producing some pretty good stuff. Maybe I'll explain how I do my thing sometime. Also though 😈 I kind like keeping my self-learned photoshop secrets as my own trade secrets. Srry.

Terminator geek side-bar, I gotcha chat

Btw, yes I know John Connor's dad also said "come with me if you want to live" to his mom in the original Terminator movie. In a shady L.A. bar too. What a pick-up line. Has there ever been a better pick-up line? And yeah (spoiler!) he DID end up becoming John Connor's dad so... an effective pick-up line too. If you're a Terminator geek, I just want YOU to be aware, that yes, I am aware of all the important geeky facts regarding those two epic movies. Anyways... πŸ˜‚ what I'm saying---what I'm trying to say here---is basically nothing about Terminator. But also, it's generally the same message. If you want to survive Season 1 of Survival, come with me.

What's wrong with "wait and see"... Nothing

Btw, what is wrong with NOT playing Season 1 of Survival? Like I said above, absolutely nothing. There's nothing wrong with just taking a wait and see approach. In my opinion, sitting back, and waiting to see if Survival is worth your time or your investment is actually probably your best move. Unless you're already basically committed to it like me. So yeah, to be clear, I'm not trying to convince anyone to play Survival. That part has to be a decision you make yourself. The only thing I'm saying is IF you already decided you're gonna try and survive Season 1, and maybe even go after those potentially huge, top-tier $SPS rewards πŸ’ͺ then you want to be ready.

Also though---for the savvy investor---if Survival does survive, then the kind of insane bargain-basement card deals I'm showing you over the next 7 days are NOT going to be there anymore. Not by the time you want them. I can't guarantee anything about Survival itself, or the game's future past even a few seasons. But if Survival DOES take off... πŸš€ then so will the demand for tanks! That's a good bet.

survives charts copy.jpg

What if Survival doesn't survive past a few seasons? Well, then the price of these cards will probably stay relatively stable. But if Survival survives? And becomes a popular game? Then, demand for tanks will probably go up. Increased demand + Limited supply = usually means higher prices.

Or... just do it for the tshirt!

If you're reading this, then hopefully you already decided to give Season 1 of Survival a try. Despite all the risks and uncertainty. I mean, there might only be like three seasons, right? If the DAO refuses to fund it after that. It's not a lot to go on. But what can I say? I want the T-shirt that says "I survived Splinterlands Survival!" As long as I can proudly wear that tshirt 😎 then whatever happens happens. It doesn't stress me out too much. You should have that same feeling. If you don't, then it's probably better to take the "sit-back-and-watch" approach. At least at first.

Survival tshirt copy.jpg

If you're like me, the fact that Survival might not last doesn't bother you too much. In the end, I'm really just doing it for the tshirt.

If that's you, make sure to also read the first article in this series: Survival Summoner Prep. Learn about your collection's Bench Strength and why it's going to matter a lot more than it ever did before. Because let's be honest. Bench strength NEVER mattered before. So this is all new, for, well... all of us. Also, if you agree with my previous post, you agree your collection needs to have a deep bench in all the key positions. Is tank a key position in Splinterlands? Um, yes. Yes. It absolutely, definitely, 100% is. That's why this next installment of the Survival prep series is all about tanks!

TANKS very much! ️‍πŸ”₯ Fire edition

In this first installment , we'll look for the best, most under-valued fire tanks on the market right now. Like we've already said... if you want to survive Season 1 of Survival then you better have a deep bench at the tank position. Because what do tanks do? Especially in fire-filled, high damage battles? Die a lot πŸ’€ So get as many as possible.

Fire tank copy.jpg

In this installment of "TANKS very much!" we'll look at a few of the best, most undervalued ️‍πŸ”₯ fire splinter tanks on the market today. You'll need lots of them if you want to survive Season 1.

Antoid Platoon

There's just no cheaper, more versatile, more undervalued fire tank on the market for Survival than Antoid Platoon. Right now you can get the cheapest max copy for $2.59? Like okay. Are you kidding me? That's core set. 4 mana. Shield and scavenge.

Btw what about ant creatures generally... love them or hate them? I frikin love them a lot. In my opinion, there aren't nearly enough of them in the game. Like, have you ever read CHILDREN OF TIME? You'll never looks at ants (or spiders) the same way again. The ant armies in that book were tough. They loved burning stuff. Cutting stuff down. Generally destroying everything in their path. That book also happens to be one of my all-time favorite sci-fi books ever 😍 So yes, more ants please. And fire throwing spiders, burning-hot beetles, etc. All those insect creatures scream to fire splinter to me!

Right now you can get the cheapest max copy for $2.59 and there are 3x copies under $3 πŸ‘€ That's the kind of value to chase if you're serious about Survival.

Tusk the Wide

This next under-valued tank is an epic rarity card. Why does that matter? Remember, epics will come off death cooldown πŸ’€ faster than commons or rares. Even though this card never rose above the rank of a B-list tank, that's exactly why Tusk the Wide is your perfect hidden-value, under-appreciated tank for Survival. Cheapest max copy? $4.44 🀯

Tusk copy.jpg
image.png

Even though he never really took off, I've actually always been a fan. Now for Survival? Idk, I see a lot of potential underappreciated value in Tusk the Wide. Cheapest max copy for $4.44 and 2x copies under $5. Epic core set tank. Takes lots of magic damage with void and gives +1 melee to his whole team with inspire? Yes please.

Forgotten One

Finally we have Forgotten One. I mean, this is hard to even call B-list? It's another epic and I'd actually put this card on the A-list, or at least close to it. This card not only takes damage, it gives damage back. Also... immunity anyone? It means he's more valuable in Noxious Fumes which is like, always a ruleset lately. Or is that just me? It feels like every battle is poison, poison, poison 🀒... Anyway, here's your antidote. Max copy for $5.49.

Forgotten one copy.jpg

It's hard to call this card B-list. Even though you can get him at pretty much near B-list prices for a max epic. If Survival takes off, you'll probably never see prices like this again. Max copy for $5.49? 2x copies under $6. Epic core set tank that takes damage, gives damage, and can't be poisoned? The few extra dollars are worth it, if you can.

Conclusion

In the next installment, well DIVE into πŸ’§ in the best deals on hidden-value water splinter tanks! No doubt, some of the best tanks in the game come from the rivers, lakes and seas. Until then my friends, go out and grab these fire tank deals. If there's any great fire tank ones I missed for Survival, post in the comments. Until tomorrow then. Survive and stay alive!

Sort: Β

this article is dank! i'm digging all the AI art!

I don't think I'll care much about survival, unless rewards are much better than wild. i enjoy the modern grind with main and just fine with the complete sets i have on my alts.

Thanks man! Yeah Its tough to decide where to focus these days.My rentals have been making very little lately, so I decided I'm going to pull them all and let them loose on Survival. I'll keep folks updated on the progress.

Good luck to survival! I optimized my alt accounts, but I seen nice rates for the Rebellion cards in rental market. The wild rentals are bad so they are battling with bot help.

With the frequency of rulesets like cripple and noxious fumes, and even the new card, Ulfga, which poisons its' killer, Immunity cards like Forgotten One are a must-have. Great article.

Agree 100%. Forgotten one at that price feels like a steal. Appreciate you reading.

You know, I didn't really think about tanks enough. I was more concerned about making sure I have a bunch of summoners, even if many are 1 bcx. I've been trying to get more goldfoil cards together, too.

Thanks for the suggestion... I'm going to take a look at what I have for tanks and what I can wrangle up.

Nice, this is best comment ever! For real, I've been tlking to some folks who are smarter than me about this and I think tanks will be key. Tanks and summoners. Other stuff too, but those are probably top 2 priorities. I'll drop the water splinter one tonight!

Bro you should DEFINITELY SUBMIT either the Antoid Platoon or Forgotten One (although imo tweak him to be sad boi "because forgotten") to the Splinterlands Art Contest!!!

When you win, you gotta spot me one of those sweet sweet RB packs... as your Coach... and Manager.

Also because I am a Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 T-850 😎

Lol! Yes I probably should do the SPL art contest! I never know when they are?

One should be coming up soon, today possibly?

Tbh I'm not even sure where to check? It's like a secret club 🀣 where do you check to see when there are new ones πŸ™

It's on the @splinterlands account page

They post it every week and I tagged you in it :)

Great article. However, I will be leaning quite heavily on Lava Launcher myself, just because I have a lot of them

Hey jedi, good to see you here! Agreed lava launcher is gonna be key. If people can find super good deals they should add that to the list. I think when I last checked, LL was actually at a premium over some other cards 😲 people might already be seeing the value there and pushing up prices !
