Hello SPL family

Another week, another set of Battle Mage secrets. This week's highlighted ruleset is Healed Out. In this ruleset, all healing abilities are removed, including summoners. I sometimes see my opponents using units with high health or speed to gain an advantage. They also occasionally use units with poison to quickly reduce their opponent's health. To give you an idea of which monsters in the modern format cannot use healing abilities, I'll show them below.

Restores a portion of the Monster's health each round

** Did you know that there is no unit with a tank heal ability in Soulbound and Rifwatch edition cards.

TRIAGE ABILITY

Heals the friendly back-line Monster that has taken the most damage

The battle I will show comes from the SPS Dao Free Tournament. This is the Poseidar Wild Silver Invitational where I only placed 24th and received an 81.6 SPS reward. One of my matches had healed out ruleset, so I chose it to demonstrate how I won our battle.

BATTLE CONDITION

The battle condition is 46 mana caps and the elements that you can use are water, life, death and, dragon. The rulesets are target practice, healed out and, weak magic.

TEAM COMPOSITION

The summoner I chose for this battle is Possibilus The Wise, a water summoner that grants trample and reach abilities to all units. Possibilus The Wise also provides an additional +2 health to all units. For the 1st position, I selected Noa The Just, a non-attacking monster with rust and dodge abilities at level 3. Since one of the rulesets is Weak Magic to reduce the opponent's armor, Noa The Just's rust ability will deduct -2 from the opponent's armor. Noa The Just's dodge ability will help evade the opponent's physical attacks in defense. For the 2nd position, I chose Kulu Mastermind, a melee attacker with weapons training, opportunity, and shield abilities. Kulu Mastermind's weapons training will provide melee attack to Noa The Just and Baakjira. Kulu Mastermind's shield will protect him from the opponent's physical attacks. For the 3rd position, I chose Baakjira, a non-attacking monster with slow, void, and strengthen abilities at level 2. Baakjira's slow ability will deduct -1 speed from the opponent. The void ability will protect him from reducing damage from magic attackers. Baakjira's strengthen will provide +1 health to all units, which will help increase the health of all units because one of the rulesets is healed out. With the healed out ruleset, there's a chance of winning the battle if all units have high health. For the 4th position, I chose Daarg Deadblast, a magic attacker with swiftness, triage, and weapons training abilities at level 2. Due to the presence of the healed out ruleset, Daarg Deadblast cannot use his triage ability. His weapons training ability will provide magic attack to Daigen Dark Surveyor and additional magic attack ability to Baakjira. Swiftness will provide +1 speed to all units. For the 5th position, I chose Daigen Dark Surveyor, a non-attacking monster with magic reflect and slow abilities at level 5. Daigen Dark Surveyor's slow ability will deduct an additional -1 speed from the opponent. His magic reflect ability will defend him from magic attackers by bouncing the opponent's magic attack. For the last position, I chose Ruler Of The Seas, a magic attacker with swiftness and blast abilities at level 2. Ruler Of The Seas' swiftness ability will provide an additional +1 speed to all units. His blast ability will provide additional damage to the opponent's backline.

Due to the combination of swiftness and slow abilities, Noa The Just gained an advantage, making his dodge ability more effective in evading the opponent's physical attacks.

Even though Ruler Of The Seas was faster than the opponent, his speed wasn't enough to dodge the physical attacks of the opponent's Kulu Mastermind and Deeplurker. That's why he died in round 1 of the battle.

From round 2 to 4, the opponent's physical attacks did not hit Noa The Just because of his dodge ability. So, at the start of round 5, after Noa The Just attacked, Kulu Mastermind ended the battle.

  • Overall, my plan to speed up my units to gain the upper hand and make Noa The Just's dodge ability effective was a success.

  • Noa The Just received a total of 11 missed physical attacks throughout the battle: 2 in the 1st round and 9 from the 2nd to 4th rounds.

  • Noa The Just's rust ability also helped reduce the opponent's armor by -2, even though the opponent used Arkenis The Bear to provide additional armor to their unit.

  • Because of the combination of swiftness and slow abilities, I gained an advantage in speed over the opponent.
