Adapting to Modern: Getting to Know Your Rebellion Core Set Part 3

Prelude
Welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern where I look at how I crossed over from playing in Wild Battles till today focusing and getting more cards on Modern Battles, sharing with the community the struggles, the strategies and things I do to move towards playing in Modern. With the wrapping up of the Soul Bound Reward cards from Rebellion set and due to Rebellion will be the more established set when a new card set release into the modern group, there is still a need to have a good base of Rebellion core set cards. So with this, I will embark on reviewing 2 cards per week from the Rebellion Core set to discuss if you should be considering getting some of the cards to adapt to modern gameplay when the new set comes and Chaos Legion phases out.

Rebellion Core Set Cards

Similar to last post, we will begin discussing card from the Rebellion Core Set. Using a similar method when I reviewed the Soul Bound reward cards, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and will give a simple review to whether or not investing into them will level up your game play or not. And let's continue with the 2 rare cards from Rebellion Fire Splinter.

Torch Myrmidon

The first fire splinter rare card that we will review is the Torch Myrmidon. Honestly this card is actually very important card to get because of Close Range. It is one of the very important abilities that is crucial for specific ruleset. So while one look, this card might not impress you much, I would still say, get this card. At higher levels, I think this card gain in value with more health stat and also much more speed stat which will make this card harder to get hit which makes the flanking useful and allow big melee cards to hide behind it and strike opponent from 2nd position. The final few levels when the shatter is gained helped to take out big tanks with loads of armour and give chance for the melee cards that hide behind this card to do work. A card that should not be left at low level and work progressively up to be more viable.

Flame Mephit

The next card we will look at will be Flame Mephit. This card is also a very decent card to have at both low and higher levels. The flying allows this card to be placed at the very end to keep getting value as it helps alot in dodging. With the increasing stats in speed and health then subsequently gaining a backfire ability fully complements this card. This card become a small package and surprise your opponent with all the returned damage when they miss their attacks. Most important factor of this card is the super low mana that is needed for this card. It can be placed almost any lineup with ease and it consume so small amount of mana that additional mana can be catered for other cards. And this will be a great pick for Little League and range only matches. A little handy card but has multiple utilities for greater use.

Assessment
As compared to the 2 cards that I've reviewed last week, the 2 cards today are slightly better with much better value with the abilities and stats they carry. While Torch Myrmidon might have a slightly tighter utility with the high mana, it is still viable in many lineup with the amazing stat growth as it levels up and that close range which is super handy during range only matchup. But for Flame Mephit, as long as you have a slot and 2 mana remain, this card is a good addition to any lineup and becomes much better as we go higher up in levels for this card.

Rating wise for both the cards, I would say Torch Mymidon would probably just deserve a decent rating of 3.3/5 for the abilities and great stat growth while Flame Mephit will deserve to have a rating of 4.1/5 for its amazing versatility and suitability for many ruleset. Both are decent cards and can come crucial when playing certain rulesets. Minimally, do get a copy of each and work up to level 5 for both cards and with a Level 5 rare summoner, they will do good in the lineup

Wrap Up
I have started looking into the Rebellion core set cards that we need to start building up to prepare for the new set that will be coming in when Chaos Legion gets rotated out. I do hope that with the new set that will be launching soon, we can find back the vibrancy during the prime days where everyone was busy camping for cheap cards or scurrying through the rental market to get cheap rentals. Remember, should you be uncertain, there is training mode for you to test out and try before purchasing or renting.
