I chose this card because I find its abilities fascinating and highly useful in battle. I've been using it alongside the Lily Shieldpaw summoner and other supportive allies in my lineup, and it shows to be very effective based on my battle experience modern format, especially in rule sets like Noxious Fumes or No Melee Attack.

Grimbardun Smith is a rare neutral card that doesn’t attack but can execute plans in support roles. It comes with Immunity, Void, Shield, and Repair, making it a resilient frontline or backline protector. With 1 speed, 3 armor, 10 health, and a 6-mana cost, it provides excellent durability and defensive utility for various battle strategies.

In-game Lore: Grimbardun smiths boast that their armorcraft is the finest in all the Splinterlands… and they're probably right. With an innate magic unusual among mountain dwarves, they craft exquisite suits of plate and chain imbued with raw mana, enhancing their protective qualities against steel and spells alike. In battle, they hurry about, tirelessly mending the dents and dings in their allies' armor, usually with a hammer in one hand a mug of ale in the other; they figure when you're this good, you've earned the right to raise a toast to your own handiwork.

Deep within the mountains, the halls of Grimbardun rang with the steady rhythm of hammers against steel (as they are crafting). The smiths of this great stronghold were known far and wide for their unmatched craftsmanship, creating weapons and armor infused with raw magic, especially made from dragons.

For centuries, the Grimbardun smiths had remained neutral in the conflicts that raged across the Splinterlands, content to supply only those deemed honorable enough to wield their weapons and armor. Yet, as whispers of war began to stir among the kingdoms, their secluded halls could no longer remain untouched.

One day, an envoy arrived from a distant empire. Unlike past visitors (adventurers), they did not come as customers but as conquerors in disguise...

They demanded that the Grimbardun smiths forge weapons for their armies, offering wealth, land, and power in return.

They did not ask but demanded that the smiths of Grimbardun forge weapons for their legions, promising gold, territory, and dominion over the finest mines.

But the Grimbardun did not forge for conquest, nor to be intimidated.
Their craft was sacred, a divine gift passed down from the God of Crafting himself, and no amount of riches could sway them from their duty to honor and integrity...

Unfortunately, their decision had consequences. If Grimbardun refused to take sides, others would assume they were secretly arming their enemies. Spies began sneaking into the mountains, hoping to uncover their secrets. Raiders attacked nearby settlements, desperate to steal their legendary steel. And then came the final warning: either forge weapons for the empire or prepare for destruction.

The ruler of Grimbardun, gathered his most skilled smiths and miners. He knew that war was coming, whether they wanted it or not. But Grimbardun was no ordinary kingdom... it was a fortress built on centuries of wisdom, skill, and resilience. Instead of giving in, they chose to stand their ground.

The forges roared hotter than ever, not for selling weapons, but for defense. Their strongest warriors—once simple smiths—donned the very armor they had crafted. Their hidden tunnels and mines became strategic outposts, and powerful siege weapons were reforged with magic strong enough to destroy even the toughest invaders...

If an enemy dared to invade Grimbardun, they would find themselves facing not just warriors, but the very mountain itself.

But despite all their preparations, the smiths knew that true strength was not just in weapons—it was in wisdom. Instead of seeking war, they sent a message to all people of the Kingdom of Grimbardun:

Victory does not come from weapons alone, but from those who wield them with honor.

Would the world listen? Or would Grimbardun be forced to take up arms, not to conquer, but to protect what they held most dear? The future of the kingdom rested as neutral in the fires of their forges, waiting to be shaped into destiny itself.
