Good day everyone and the Splinterlands community. Today's blog highlight focuses on an epic showdown between Katrelba Gobson and Quora Towershead in the Are You Not Entertained? rule set. In a previous blog, I shared a battle featuring Katrelba Gobson’s tactical prowess, but today, I’m switching things up by utilizing the versatile Quora Towershead. Known for her dual attack power combining both magic and melee damage, Quora becomes a force to reckon with when paired with her self-healing ability. A set of exciting rule sets in the battle: Fire & Regret, Are You Not Entertained?, and Melee Mayhem, with a mana cap of 19. Given these rules and the mana restriction, Quora’s flexibility in dealing damage and sustaining herself made an ideal choice for this matchup.
The "Are You Not Entertained?" rule set shows high-intensity combat, encouraging relentless assaults, and Quora Towershead fits right into this dynamic. Quora Towershead ability to simultaneously deal damage while healing herself adds tremendous value to the team, especially under the Melee Mayhem rule, which allows melee attacks to hit from any position. This flexibility enabled me to exploit her full potential, even under the 19-mana cap. It was a calculated decision to rely on her magical and melee power to break through defenses and secure victory in a battle of endurance and skill. This strategic combination made Quora Towershead the focal point of this blog’s featured battle.

Katrelba Gobson
Katrelba Gobson is an exceptionally strong card for its common rarity, gaining additional abilities and stat boosts as it levels up. Its key abilities include Bloodlust, which strengthens it with each defeated opponent, Sneak for targeting backline enemies, Double Strike for attacking twice per turn, and Sanare for self or team healing. With 3 melee damage, 3 speed, and 4 health, it excels in melee-only rule sets, especially when used for sneak attacks. The combination of Double Strike and Bloodlust quickly turns it into a relentless attacker, making it a vital card for aggressive, tactical gameplay.
Quora Towershead
I currently have Quora Towershead at level 3, and I'm hoping to eventually max it out by grinding daily on Glint and securing victories in Brawl matches. At this level, the card unlocks powerful abilities like Bloodlust, Healing, and Immunity. The combination of Immunity with Healing and Bloodlust is especially effective, allowing Quora to counter the opposing team’s Affliction ability, making it a formidable Gladiator card.

Quix the Devious
Decreases opponent both speed and range attacks.
I’m planning to go with the Dragon element so I can field Vruz and take advantage of its Martyr ability to power up my Katrelba Gobson. This strategy also helps me manage the speed differential, giving me a better chance of gaining a speed advantage and attacking first before Vruz is taken out. I anticipate that my opponent may also incorporate some Gladiator cards into their lineup, so timing and speed control will be key in this battle.
My Simple Plan Line up
First Position - Vruz
In the first position, Vruz takes on the role of a frontline tank, serving both as a shield for the team and a strategic sacrifice to activate the Martyr ability. With its impressive 7-speed, Vruz has a strong chance to strike first with 2 melee damage, and by placing it upfront, I’m banking on it either executing the initial blow or falling quickly enough to boost the stats of my key Gladiator cards. Whether Vruz initiates the attack or Fungus Flinger triggers the Martyr ability, the plan is to set up my other units for a powerful counterstrike, especially benefiting Quora Towershead.
Second Position - Quora Towershead
In the second position, Quora Towershead becomes the backbone of the team, dealing both melee and magic damage. With her Bloodlust ability, Quora becomes increasingly stronger after every kill, making her the most formidable force on the battlefield. Paired with her Healing ability, she can recover each round, allowing her to stay active longer in the fight. Her Immunity ability also protects her from debilitating status effects like poison or stun, which could otherwise cripple her performance. As the main damage dealer, Quora thrives on the buffs provided by Martyr, which boosts her killing potential even more.
Third Position - Fungus Flinger
The third position goes to Fungus Flinger, a ranged attacker with the Martyr ability, enhancing the synergy of my team. In addition to providing potential stat boosts upon its defeat, Fungus Flinger brings the Affliction ability, which has a 50% chance of preventing opponents from healing, a crucial element in taking down tanky units that rely on recovery. With its 2 ranged damage, Fungus Flinger can contribute to the offensive strategy while waiting for its chance to sacrifice itself and empower the remaining units, particularly Quora Towershead.
Fourth Position - Fungus Fiend
Fungus Fiend is placed in the fourth position as a defensive measure and filler, but its role goes beyond just occupying a slot. Its Slow ability reduces the enemy team’s speed by 1, which complements my strategy to gain a speed advantage. This will make it easier for my team to land attacks before the enemy, improving the likelihood that Vruz and Quora can strike first. Additionally, by sitting in the backline, Fungus Fiend can absorb any potential sneak attacks, protecting my more valuable units from unexpected eliminations.
Selecting a useful ability in this battle with a good amount of damage will increase your chances of victory in this type of rule set.
Differences:
Katrelba Gobson and Quora Towershead are both powerful cards, but they differ in their roles and strategies. Katrelba Gobson excels in sneak attacks, using abilities like Sneak, Double Strike, and Bloodlust to deal heavy damage to backline enemies, while Sanare provides healing support. With 3 melee damage, 3 speed, and 4 health, Katrelba thrives in melee-only rulesets. Quora Towershead, on the other hand, is more versatile with Bloodlust, Healing, and Immunity, which make it strong against debuffs like Affliction. Quora is more of a frontline tank, with Healing and Immunity providing sustainability in long battles, whereas Katrelba focuses on aggressive, fast-paced backline eliminations.
Advantages and Disadvantages:
Katrelba Gobson's main advantage lies in its offensive power and speed, making it ideal for players who prefer aggressive strategies that focus on quickly taking out weaker enemies. The combination of Sneak and Double Strike allows it to target and destroy backline units efficiently. However, its lower health can make it vulnerable in prolonged battles, especially against teams that focus on defense or crowd control. Quora Towershead, with its Healing and Immunity, has a clear advantage in resilience and sustain, making it more difficult to take down in battles that drag on. However, it may not be as effective in fast-paced, aggressive strategies where speed and backline damage are critical, as its strength lies in endurance and countering debuffs rather than raw offense.
Will my strategy line up work?
In this battle, the opponent used the powerful Lux Vega summoner, which provides a significant boost to speed, armor, and health, giving their team an edge in both endurance and speed. With Venator Kinjo further reducing my team’s speed, the opponent strategically positioned their cards to maximize their advantages. My Vruz was able to make the first move due to its high speed, but it was quickly defeated by Doctor Blight, and the opponent's lineup gained momentum, particularly with Fungus Fiend and Fungus Flinger executing my backline.
Despite the speed gap, my Quora Towershead's Bloodlust ability allowed it to gain crucial stat boosts after defeating the opponent’s Chaos Agent. This evened the playing field, and luck played a major role when Quora attacked before the opponent’s Katrelba Gobson in the third round. This decisive moment, along with fortunate timing, ensured my victory, though if the opponent had utilized Martyrs in the frontline, it could have turned the tide against me.
From this battle, I noticed the importance of positioning and how luck can influence key moments. Without timely attacks from Quora, the outcome could have been a guaranteed loss.
This is another simple strategy yet helpful for certain matches in the Earth line-up element, feel free to check my other blog that uses the Water element which I commonly use, and hope this could help you in the battle. 😊
