Uncle Bobby

The letter arrived with no return address and only three words: “Don’t trust him.” This seemed very strange to Rick, so he hid the letter under his pillow.

Since that fateful car accident, his Uncle Bobby had cared for him as if he were his own son. He was a robust man with a warm smile. During difficult months, Uncle Bobby had told him stories during his stay in the hospital after waking from the coma.

It was he who, with a trembling voice, revealed the bitter truth about the death of his parents. "I'm sorry, Rick. Your parents didn't survive."

His sincerity, amidst heartbreaking pain, made the boy admire his uncle even more. He was his pillar, the refuge of his trust in the world.

He had no reason to distrust such a good man; Rick was very fortunate to still have his uncle...

A year after the accident, the shadow of another tragedy loomed over that family.

One night, Rick vanished without a trace. Distant relatives alerted the police to locate his whereabouts. The strange thing about the case was that the young man's legal guardian did not file any report, which raised alarms for the law enforcement officials.

The police arrived at the house to ask Uncle Bobby some questions, searching for answers in his eyes filled with anguish. The beloved Uncle only uttered words that bewildered the pair of officers: "He's fine... He's now with his parents."

Confusion overtook the room, and the agents' gazes turned stern. Bobby, that trustworthy figure, became the main suspect in young Rick's disappearance.

Uncle Bobby was arrested and sentenced to 30 years in prison, bearing a weight that they seemed unable to comprehend.
