RE: Daily Hive Stats Report - Friday, December 10, 2021

Some people confuse posting with speech. Communication consists of sending and receiving. Writing and reading.

100% agree.

If I can post but it's hidden and unreasonable difficult to find — that's called shadow banning. Social media sites who shadow ban are not free speech sites.

Well the blockchain does not hide anything... and the apps are not THE blockchain, they are implemented by other individuals... so effectively what should be called was that other people are/or not shadow banning. And not actually the blockchain code, which has explorers anyone can run (including the nodes) to verify the messages broadcasted. Also nothing prevents someone to create/change the open source code and decide shadow banning is not allowed... there is lot's to talk about this... I think due to technical education, its an area that will always be hard for non-tech people to understand.

So, this one I don't agree because I am technically inclined to what really it represents. I know people will have a hard time understanding this and it will create some controversial interpretations from whom is not tech savvy, but hey... we can't please the entire world all the time... it's life. We observe, learn, prioritize and improve. As a community.

Again, UI's are not the blockchain... hence it does not make sense to talk about free speech if you are using an UI that has not consensus like the blockchain has... things need to be segregated.

Sure about that? It's my understanding that if your name is in 0_22.hf you can't broadcast messages any more.

First that's not the correct repo (this one is). Secondly, actually you can still broadcast... but certain actions/balances were blocked/removed by the code to prevent the consensus attack. This was decided by the consensus of at the time witnesses, which anyone can participate/vote for in a decentralized community.

You can check all the changes by yourself on the following up forks.

Note that line 20 to 52 of 0_22.hf I can understand as protection from Justin Sun. But line 54 to 353 not so much. Those 300 user handles should not have been there. That's the founding witnesses taking out some petty revenge.

If you read the comment on line 53... it explains why...

Why would you continue to vote for someone that started an attack in first place when the community already forked and decided (by the fork among so many other expressions via other social media) it was not wanted by the community?

We are on fork 26 and most of those accounts state were restored on HIVE via the appealing process.

Anyhow, this is long waters... not very useful to debate now. The current state is pretty awesome... If I was more informed at the time of the confusion, I would have made my move even faster... whatever Justin agenda was, failed miserably... and the technology and community won. That has a huge value. HIVE will continue to evolve and be tested all day always... 😎

I read the line 53. I understand line 53. I still disagree. I still think it was wrong.

Not to mention that the script which created the list was buggy. Hence the need for an appealing process.
