Visiting The Caracas Museum

Although I often go to historical places on Saturdays and Sundays, it is now when I make my presence in your community, hoping that you like my tour. I want to show you my path, to a place that I had never entered, and I was surprised, because, in many opportunities, I passed by its façade. This place is located in the center of Caracas in the historic center and today I learned that it has a museum inside, upon entering we find a central courtyard called Patio de los Leones and a fountain that still maintains the decorations of Christmas, its jets and rumbles produced by the water, creates a refreshing atmosphere and gives us good vibes.

Visitando El Museo de Caracas

Aunque con frecuencia voy a lugares históricos los sábados y domingos, es ahora cuando hago presencia en vuestra comunidad, esperando que les guste mi recorrido. Quiero mostrarle mi senda, a un lugar al que nunca había entrado, y me sorprendió, porque, en muchas oportunidades, pasaba por su fachada. Este lugar está ubicado, en el centro de Caracas en el casco histórico y hoy en día me enteré, que tiene un museo en su interior, al entrar nos encontramos con un patio central denominado Patio de los Leones y una fuente que aún mantiene los adornos de la Navidad, sus chorros y retumbos producidos por el agua, crea una atmósfera refrescante y nos produce buena vibra.

The courtyard is integrated by a garden with lush plants that stand out for their greenery and lushness, walking on the left we find corridors that lead to the exhibition halls that are continuous, and we go around inside the corridors bordering the fountain, I describe it, to give you an idea. In every corner of its exhibition halls, we find objects and pieces that take us to the past and tell their history, about art, culture and traditions of our country.

El patio lo integra un jardín con exuberantes plantas que se destacan por su verdor y frondosidad, al caminar por la izquierda nos encontramos con corredores que nos llevan a las salas de exposiciones que se encuentran continuos, y vamos dando la vuelta dentro de los pasillos bordeando la fuente, lo describo, para que se den una idea. En cada rincón de sus salas de exhibiciones, hallamos, objetos y piezas que nos trasladan al pasado y cuentan su historia, sobre el arte, la cultura y las tradiciones de nuestro país.

While the guide tells us with such enthusiasm about the struggles of the patriots, I take some pictures. We can see a model of the Municipal Theater, of what Caracas was like in the 1830s.

Mientras la guía nos relata con tanto entusiasmo las luchas de los patriotas, voy tomando algunas fotos. Podemos observar una maqueta del Teatro Municipal, de cómo era la Caracas, de la década de 1830.

In the same way we find a well designed model of the Cathedral of Caracas and the Plaza Bolivar called in those times the Plaza Mayor, in the same place we see staging where the Caracas Market was located. We are talking about the years from 1753 to 1863, when it was demolished and the current Plaza Bolivar was erected.

De la misma manera encontramos una maqueta bien diseñada, de la Catedral de Caracas y la Plaza Bolívar llamada en esos tiempos la Plaza Mayor, en el mismo lugar vemos escenificación donde se encontraba el Mercado de Caracas. Estamos hablando de los años de 1753 a 1863, cuando fue derrumbado, y erigida la Plaza Bolívar actual.

Some paintings represent the heroes and Simón Bolívar. As well as the painting and mural of the Liberator, on the ceiling, and an image of the sky. Walking through the corridors, we observe large windows, wooden doors with a fine finish and a well-kept floor due to the constant restorations that are made to the place, taking care to preserve its antiquity. We also find pieces of well-known artists.

Algunos cuadros representan a los próceres y a Simón Bolívar. Como también la pintura y mural del Libertador, en el techo, y una imagen del cielo. Al caminar por los pasillos, observamos ventanales, puertas de madera con un fino acabado y un piso bien cuidado debido a las restauraciones constantes que se le hacen al lugar, cuidando de conservar su antigüedad. También encontramos con piezas de cultores conocidos.

All the samples in the exhibition are safeguarded by the Institution, since they are important objects of the historical heritage of the city of Caracas. In our tour with the guide, we were able to see the coat of arms of Caracas, standard, weapons used in the time of the colony, which allow us to recreate our mind; a sample of oil paintings where we can see how was the Caracas of yesteryear, with its red roofs and colonial houses.

Todas las muestras en la exposición están resguardadas por la Institución, ya que son objetos importantes del acervo histórico de la ciudad de Caracas. En nuestro recorrido con la guía, pudimos ver el escudo de Caracas, estandarte, armas utilizadas en el tiempo de la colonia, que nos permiten recrear nuestra mente; una muestra de pinturas al óleo donde podemos ver, cómo era la Caracas de antaño, con sus techos rojos y casas coloniales.

We found a room where it works, the chapel that is being restored. I could not take pictures, only of the large iron bell tower at the entrance. At the end is the room of the Venezuelan chroniclers, and an office where tourists can take pictures. To visit the Museum of Caracas, we arrived at the Plaza Bolivar de Caracas, located on the corner of the Nuns. Thus I end with these images my walk, knowing more of the history, in a beautiful and sunny day. The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, if you want to take a walk.

Encontramos un salón donde funciona, la capilla que la están restaurando. No pude tomar fotos, solo del gran campanario de hierro que se encuentra en su entrada. Al finalizar está la sala de los cronistas venezolanos, y un despacho donde el turista puede tomarse foto. Para visitar el Museo de Caracas, llegamos a la Plaza Bolívar de Caracas, situado en la esquina de las Monjas. Así finalizo con estas imágenes mi paseo, conociendo mas de la historia, en un bonito y soleado día. El museo esta abierto de martes a domingo, si desean darse un paseo.
