Analysing Post and Curation Trends for Silver Gold Stackers

In my last post about Decentralised Governance I wrote about the Proposal for funding HiveSQL and I’m pleased to see that funding for this great project has been restored. So I thought it was a good time to confirm my HiveSQL access and run some of my old queries to do some analysis on my favorite community on HIVE – The Silver Gold Stackers

The first thing I wanted to look at was the post categories for posts made to the #silvergoldstackers tag. Last time I looked at this my comments were a bit controversial but it’s basically just a look to see whether people are posting through a community portal, or whether they are using naked tags and – if so - whether the #silvergoldstackers tag is the first tag used. I wanted to look at more recent data so this pie chart only shows the top 10 categories for posts made to the #silvergoldstackers tag so far in 2021.

Here we can see that LeoFinance has become quite dominant and more than half of all posts to the tag are coming through the LeoFinance community portal. In second place is the naked #silvergoldstackers tag and in third is the Silver Gold Stackers community portal. These 3 categories make up over 85% of all posts that use the #silvergoldstackers tag. I will refrain from drawing any conclusions or making recommendations on what we could (or should) do about this, but the trend does look pretty clear.

Next up I wanted to check out the curation rewards being earned by the community curation project @ssg-community. This is a project that I am custodian for and since it is partly funded by curation rewards I do like to keep an eye on how much is being earned. The overall HIVE power for the project has been fairly steady around the 220-230K level for quite a while now so I was expecting the curation rewards to be fairly constant too.

The daily curation is shown in Green with a 7 day average (Blue) and 30 day average (yellow). There unfortunately has been a bit of a steady decline in curation rewards since about December last year although it’s been picking up a little bit more recently. This gradual decline is possibly due to the rewarding of engagement on posts to the #silvergoldstackers tag via upvoting comments, which I've been doing for a few months now and does not yield much of a curation reward. While there has been some good content and activity on the tag overall, the curation project still is a little bit undersubscribed and would probably be earning better curation rewards if it was upvoting more metals content and less engagement comments. Thankfully the decline in rewards is minor and the project can still sustain itself at this level.

Does this mean no community raffle is required as in the past?

I don't know if I'd say it was ever "required" but those raffles certainly did help a lot in those early days.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts, @buggedout. Where else can one go to checkout so many cool coins and treasures. And without a mask or a seasons' ticket.

Good info Buggs

Thank you!

Thanks for the insight.

Sorry, I'm late. Curating seems my thing if I'm not already predisposed to off-line life.
Fascinating Crow's Nest view from here of the Silvergoldstackers community.
