This is only my second piece from the Land Down Under. With all my travels, I have never been to Australia, but my youthful spirit wishes that I had. Nothing like every creature that crawls or slithers being able to kill or maim you to attract an adventure seeker like I once was.
This little item came from the Perth Mint. Not all that famaliar with Australian geopgraphy, I had to open up Google Maps and look it up. The Mint located in East Pert of Perth Australia. Perth is the capitol of Western Australia and has a population, according to the United Nations, of 1.985 million (Wikipedia 2016).
Perth is located where the Swan River and the coastline intersect. It is known for its sandy beaches and amazing views.
The Perth Mint opened in 1899 and currently has over 500 employees. It is the official bullion mint of Australia and owned by the Western Australian government. The mint is a trusted around the world for its premier bullion and precious metal products.
Perth Mint 1 Oz Silver Kangaroo Bar
One side of the bar displays a swan, which I assume is the Perth mint logo. I need to look into that more. My assumption is that they adopted that sympbol based on the location of Perth as it relates to the Swan river. Surrounding the swan is "THE PERTH MINT AUSTRALIA" stamped into the bar. The bar contains one (1) troy ounce of .9999 fine pure silver.
If you ever get a chance to visit the Perth Mint, one should take the time while in East Perth to visit Heirisson Island. I know I would like to. The island seems to have a wild population of Kangaroos and is supposedly one of the best locations to see them outside of captivity while in Perth. And it is close enough to the Mint from what I can tell.

IF I visit the Western Beaches of the land down under, I'll bring my metal detector.
Not to mention that the dangerous waters around Australia still lay claim to over 400 shipwrecks. One most alluring like the Dutch Zuytdorp with the bulk of her treasure far from recovered, still hidden under the violent swirling waves and treacherous jagged rocks.

Actually, the Zuytdorp and most wreck sites require written permission from the Western Australian Museum. The Zuytdorp site is a very dangerous and is under guard from what I last heard. Accessible only for a few weeks a year when the wave action clams down. Requiring professional divers and extraordinary safety precautions.
Fat chance with me sneaking into the wreck site in the middle of the night.
Sea shells and scraps on the beach for folks like you and I.

I was at a restaurant the other day and they had kangaroo on the menu. That's probably the closest I have ever come to seeing one outside of a zoo! This is a really cool bar. I'd love to visit Australia one day too.
I would be game for trying kangaroo.
I decided against it, but in the right circumstances I would probably be "game".

Yeah, that might help. It was more the location. My stomach can be funny sometimes when it comes to new foods. Being two hours away from home isn't the best time to try new things!

Thanks. Holding up well. Eye is coming along good. It is such a pain in the ass to try to read and type, but doing the best I can. I go to 30 minutes an hour head up for a week starting today...hoorah!!!

Perth Mint makes good qualiy stuff. I have a lot of them. Lunar series, bars, Emu etc
I have one other, which is a Kookaburro. Really like it as well. Very intersting looking place. Would love to visit one day, but doubt it will happen.
