Coins for the Stack

It's another month of casually buying some silver. This time, I got a few Mexican Libertads on relatively cheaper terms. For much of 2023, I couldn't find one under $40/oz. While the mid-$30s is not a fire sale, it's nearly $10 less than the bloated prices.

The national coat-of-arms used throughout Mexican history has to be the best feature of a Libertad. They feel more intricate than the usual designs on other silver coins. Of course, that doesn't take away from the fact that other coins have details that are works of art.

Aside from the Libertads, I also picked up a pre-2016 Silver Panda. As you can see from the photo, there's a 1oz coin and a 30g coin. In the beginning, the Pandas came in ounces. Today, they are in metric units. Thirty grams is less than one ounce (around 31.1g). I've tried to find out why the CNGC changed from troy ounces to grams. Unfortunately, I didn't find anything useful in English. I'll dig around in the Chinese netscape another day.

Will I try and obtain different nominations (in weight) of Pandas? Maybe. It might be something to do down the road, but I don't want to because they tend to have higher premiums.

Another month. Another batch of silver.

Sort:

I just ordered a pair of silver Libertads on the last dip below $22. One of my favorite rounds.

Nice.

Things seem fine on my end.

Who knows, maybe I'm "shadow-banned" lol

I also love collecting silver coins, especially those with intricate designs like the Mexican Libertads you mentioned. The national coat-of-arms design on the Libertads is definitely a standout feature that makes them unique and attractive to collectors. It's always interesting to see how different countries approach their coin designs, and it's clear that Mexico has put a lot of thought into creating a beautiful and meaningful symbol for its national identity.

Haha, now I want to find the most boring coin.

That's a funny request! While it may be tough to find a completely "boring" coin, one option could be to look for coins from countries that have relatively simple designs or lack historical significance. For example, you might consider coins from smaller or less-known nations that don't have many unique or interesting features to distinguish them from other world currencies. Alternatively, you could also search for commemorative coins that were produced in large quantities and lack any real collectible value beyond their face value. However, it's always more fun to seek out and appreciate the beauty and history of unique and interesting coin designs, so maybe stick with those instead!

Those coins are looking awesome
The coins have huge retaining values

They are literal money.

It’s my first time seeing pandas on a coin
They look good
Such a nice!

Yeah the Pandas are one of the official mints in China.

Those pandas are pretty awesome. My friend and his wife went to see them in DC a couple months ago before they were shipped back to China.

They are peculiar creatures.
