My First - 5 Dollars - Elizabeth II - 1 oz Canadian Maple Leaf (2016)

2016 Maple Leaf 5 dollars Elizabeth II.png

Finally, a maple leaf in my collection!

Although it has been in my home for a while now, I didn't write about it yet until today. Everyone knows the maple leafs, probably everyone in this community has one or many, I felt that I could not stay behind. I was happy to buy one from a dear community member and I have to say that I never expected it to be this pretty in real life. Now, I know how detailed it is and I'm surely going to add more to the collection when I can.

Let's check this beauty out

No, I didn't mean the portrait is a beauty, I meant the coin itself, lol. I like the fact that I received a 2016 version because that's the birth year of my youngest daughter and I like to get coins that mean something to me in a way or that I link to some sort of memory etc. Getting the 2016 one is therefore perfect!

I really love ALL the details on the coin, I really do. To be completely honest, I was never really lured to this coin before but I want to get more of them now that I have one. The details on the leaf, I had to look up how the "radial lines" are called but man, I'm really in awe.

This portrait of the Queen is at age 77, not much to say here I mean, I never buy a coin for that side of the coin, I don't know about you...

I tried to take the pictures from different angles but it was hard..

Let's check all info about the coin, which Numista can describe much better than I can..

A tube!

The coin came with a tube especially for the Maple Leafs, and I'm very pleased with that because now I really want to fill that one up. It feels a bit weird to put one coin in there though, and I can hardly imagine that the coins won't damage the one below. Stupid, I know, I will be careful when the time comes.. They are way too pretty to not be careful with!

Very nice! Maple Leaf's are nice coins! Unless I'm buying a prefilled tube I usually don't stack them inside because you do risk scratching a coin. But it is nice they sent you the tube with the coin. I'm glad you managed to get your hands on some Canadian silver, now you just need an American eagle!

Awesome! It is a popular coin recognized all over the world. As a Canadian, the Maple Leaf naturally makes up the majority of my silver stack since it is considered Legal Tender here. In your case it will likely the Philharmonics in terms of Bullion coinage, and the old silver Gulden or Pesetas for emergency money. You've made great progress @thisismylife

The Monster box underneath is designed to hold 500 Maple Leafs in 20 tubes. I got this handy box free as the Retailer knows that I am a frequent customer. I don't have 500 Maples in this box but it's already pretty heavy. 😅

I also plan to include maple leaf coins in my stacking. Lately, some people in the Whatsapp group I'm in have been sharing photos of their maple leaf coins. Looking at the details and beauty, I want to have one too.
