For all Devs: consider implementing a warning for transfers to blacklisted accounts.

in HiveDevs4 years ago (edited)

A couple of days I go I sent HBD22 to the wrong address: @bloctrades. All of you here can probably see I meant to send to @blocktrades. It is both the joy and curse of Hive that we can type addresses instead of being forced to copy paste. But in some cases that leads to mistakes.

There is a list built into condenser I maintain and recently convinced peakd to add similar warnings for those accounts.

If you used keychain directly it does not have those warnings.

I just checked, and yes, excellent behaviour by PeakD. Hopefully this kind of warning can be added to some of the other wallets.

Hive.blog does it too. I’m going to extract the list out of the condenser so it is more readily available. I don’t think many know it even exists.

Great idea!

I really don't want this sub to turn into bug reports or feature suggestions for various frontends. Maybe there is a more fitting community for that? These are supposed to be dev related posts mainly by devs themselves.

OK, noted. My reasoning for putting it here speciically as a non dev, was that after seeing @blocktrades correctly raise an issue on github, I thought there are other devs working on wallets that may want to raise this functionality up in priority.

It's worth noting that the "Hive Improvement" community is actively soliciting posts of this type (suggestions for how to improve Hive).

I'll cross post this over there.

It's hard to find the right community these days.

I get it. This just isnt' the community for it really. If the community isn't something then it's nothing.
