Hive Community Town Hall #1 | Witness Introduction

Introducing @town-hall

A town hall is a coming together for the purpose of bridging a community.

@town-hall is an initiative designed to bring advancement, provide guidance, inform the community, debate scenarios, argue about the blockchain, and more, all on behalf and with participation of the Hive community: Witnesses, stakeholders, community leaders, and community members.

This is an initiative by members of the community, for the community.

It starts with an account, a witness node, and discussions.

Witness Node

The idea for this witness was born a few weeks ago and came into fruition after some conversations at HiveFest where it became clear that there's a space to be filled for such a witness: One that strives to provide guidance to both new and experienced users, represent the small user, and to be vocal about what we believe is best for the Hive Ecosystem.

We believe that it is past the time where anything is based upon single individuals or one-man entity. While these will naturally exist, communities, applications, and teams are becoming commonplace in the Hive Ecosystem.

For that reason, a node representing a number of people with different backgrounds and skill sets is important. Our intention is not to replace what is already in operation but to expand upon it and provide value wherever we are qualified to do so.

Decentralization means spreading things further out.

Crypto Growth

Cryptocurrency is in its infancy.

We are seeing a lot of experimentation occurring and @town-hall seeks to expand upon that. It is a sensible view that more nodes on Hive is of benefit and we want to contribute to this aspect of pure decentralization, and add our two hives to the conversation.

We believe that the Hive ecosystem has been slowly evolving into a scenario where a different set of problem solving skills is required to face the different problems and obstacles our Blockchain faces in order to stay relevant. Here is where members with backgrounds, interests, and talents that cover a spectrum is important.

So far, much of the cryptocurrency focus is isolated. From an industry perspective, it is all about making money, but there is so much more to these networks than that.

The future of Hive is in the communities.

Hive's future lies in many different communities who live under the Hive umbrella. If we use the network-state concept, this is akin to a nation having everyone under the same nationality although there are many variables going into that.

For example, we could break this down by ethnic background. One could separate it based upon state or province. The population could be looked at based upon income or profession. There is the ability to focus upon gender or sexual preference.

While all come under the overriding heading, there are many components. With that is a differing in terms of backgrounds, interests, desires, and abilities.

In other words, there is no one size fits all.

The same is true for Hive.

One who wants to play Splinterlands has a much different outlook as compared to those who blog. The photography community focuses upon things outside the sports people's scope. Those from Venezuela come from a completely different perspective as compared to those in the United States or Western Europe.

As this occurs, participation is going to change. This certainly applies to governance as we see the need for specific talents grow. It is another layer in decentralization.

But one this is clear: In order to thrive, Hive needs all of these community members to get actively involved, both within the blockchain activities as well as those that involve being active on the outside.

Town Hall Meeting

@town-hall is going to start the process with a monthly Spaces to discuss the different ideas pertaining to forward progress.

The first one is this Monday, October 2nd at 11am EST.

Set a reminder so you don't miss this Town Hall meeting

So far we will see crimsonclad, blocktrades, arcange, leofinance, hivecuba, hivetrending, ausbitbank and WOO all participating.

Enhancing Hive's Appeal

Having a Hive Community Town Hall is another step in the path of growing the appeal of Hive to the web2 crypto space.

Over the past couple years, the bear market hit everyone hard. Fortunately, many on Hive kept building. This is applicable to both individuals and projects. We are seeing some of these efforts paying off, especially when it comes to infrastructure.

Outreach is important. To take full advantage of the next bull market, Hive should touch as many corners of the Internet as possible. Here is where the diverse backgrounds, talents, and viewpoints enters.

Interests vary. Hive has an offering of opportunities that keep growing. Many of these are unrelated yet will ultimately feed into the success of the Hive ecosystem. We are taking this step in an effort to consider how a varied approach is vital.

So far, a lot of what was done was focused at the core. Decentralization tends to equate to disunity. That is what can make it powerful. However, for the potential to be realized, we need to tap pursue many different avenues.

This is what @town-hall will do. It is the first in what is hoped to be a long line of opportunities for communities to promote Hive. Through this, it looks to develop a road map that others can follow.

Everyone's goal is to contribute to make Hive grow and get adopted. That is what the focus will be.

We hope to see you tomorrow in the first Hive Community Town Hall.
